I don’t understand why people have to keep downplaying Squier’s name by being “surprised” at how good the newer models are. Everyone keeps the stigmas going by bringing that point up in every video. Cheap =\= bad. Expensive =\= good.

While you have a point, it's also fair that they say that. Cheap guitars have been a big obstacle for many for a long time. The CNC machines are what made the difference in the last decade. The same file used to carve a 1800 dollar American P-bass is the same file used to carve a 250 Squier Affinity P-bass. The difference these days is the detail of finish (especially to the fretboard), the electronics and hardware, obviously, and the quality of the wood itself. I understand all this, and yet I am still surprised that a $250 bass is decent (or in many cases really good). I'm old school. Up until about ten years ago you actually got what you paid for in guitars. Now it's not always the case. That's not easy to get used to. :)

Thank you for answering the questions in my head about this model. The fact that it’s medium-scale is the main attraction. If I can find one at 8lbs, or less I would definitely be tempted.

I really enjoyed this demo. Interesting with the single humbucker, I think it's a positive step up from the noisy single coil pickups. Thanks Anthony!

ive just had one of these gifted to me to add to my 7 other basses,,,im amazed at the quality and fretwork/ body finish, excellent little bass and it sounds great, i saw someone put a 100 dollar pickup in one and it seemed pointless, im very happy with the punchy little thing :)

I like both the blue and charcoal colors, but I would lean towards the charcoal if I bought one. Squiers have come a long way the past 5 years and have really stepped up their quality and esthetics while still keeping the price point reasonable. Great review Anthony!

I just ordered this bass from Sweetwater today and I can't wait for it to get here. This will be my third Squier and I totally expect it to be imperfect, it was less than $300, but I bought it because it's one of the coolest looking basses I've ever seen. That shade of blue is perfect.

Thanks for your review! So it seems the only downside of this bass is the pickup… do you think you could make up for the lack of highs with a brighter set of strings? Like a DR High Beams or d’Addario XL?

Is this a solid pick if Im looking for a bass to record with. I am a guitarist and have been recording for a good while now but I really miss some low end in my music. In some songs I only need the classic "One note a bar" and for others something more intense. Can this bass do that or should I look at something more "expensive" so to speak.

One question, is the output of the ceramic Humbucker pickup louder than the pickup of a Precision ? It also seems to be light weight and quite versatile

Great demo, but two questions that I have are: 1) Did you use the Factory supplied roundwound strings, or was the bass restrung for this demo? It sounded more like flatwounds to me, unless that is part of the reduced high end, and 2) Is there a case or gig bag that is made to fit this bass, or do you use a standard scale case or bag?

We carry so many of these models, mentioning the weight of one particular bass doesn't seem to make sense? However, I generally will comment on an instrument 's feel and how I perceive the weight. I apologize for not doing that on this particular bass. It was on the lighter side though. Thanks for watching - Anthony

@@EmpireMusicPgh I am very concern about the weight AND how the bass is balanced when it holds standing up . But I still don't understand why constructors and salers do not mention the weight... I found that IMO 8,8lbs is (begin) heavy 7,7lbs is (quite) light 6,6lbs (and under) is (really) light. Anyway, great demo Thanks.

@@CrazyBaldhead1335 The weight varies from guitar to guitar. Check out Sweetwater's website. They list the exact weight of each guitar. It's actually confusing to me when I see the exact same model with weights that vary by as much as half a pound. I guess it's the wood in the body itself that makes the difference.

@@ravendemo4980 Hey friend, I'm super keen on getting this bass. Just wondering about weight and neck dive, any issues?
@ravendemo4980
@ravendemo4980 3 жыл бұрын
@@MechanicalChimp Ok so weight is good… probably a little lighter than my jazz bass. But that might vary on each individual model. And as far as neck dive goes… yeah, I see this probably being one of the biggest complaints. It’s not too much of an issue when I play finger style because my fore arm rests on the cutout edge to keep it from diving. But when I play with a pick, it will shift more and I have to re-adjust every once in a while. So to help that, I anchor my fore arm on the cutout and my palm on the top of the bridge. As far as any other issues go… well high fret access can get a little annoying sometimes. Tuning with a clip on tuner is a little dodgy. But I have a cheaper clip on tuner, so that just might be my problem. Oh, and one last thing: I hear nut ping when I play slap. But an easy fix for that is to use a fret wrap or a bit of foam behind the nut. All in all though, I REALLY like this bass. Even though it has its issues, I think it’s playability and sound are its biggest positives. Also, no scratchy frets or pots, and it looks great! I hope this helps in your decision. If you do decide to get one… please tell me what you think of it! 😊🤟
@MechanicalChimp
@MechanicalChimp 3 жыл бұрын
@@ravendemo4980 Awesome, thanks. Probably gonna order one today. The neck dive was my only real concern, but I am happy to replace the tuners with ultra lites or even smaller Gotohs and yeah, as you say adjust technique a little. I have a nice wide strap and a good Korg tuner so happy days. Also I don't slap so that's cool. Will keep you posted when/if I get it! Love medium scale so reckon I can live with the cons. Thanks again!
