I own a lot of tele's, American, Mexico, China(classic vibe). I can honestly say that this classic vibe custom is always my go to tele. It is an awesome playing guitar. I did put, the Fender 62' custom bridge/neck pickups into it though. The sound is fantastic. When I play it, I kinda feel like I shouldn't be when I could be playing a more "expensive" guitar, but it's just that good. Rolled edges, smooth neck and great tone.

I've bought one and it is indeed an incredible guitar. Even when you don't take the affordability in consideration it is amazing, better than any japanese or mexican fenders that I've either owned or played. Really couldn't be happier w/ the purchase.

I have put a Seymour duncan 59 in the neck, a strat single coil in the middle, and a fender texas special in the bridge. I sanded down the neck (but not too much) Added locking tuners, 5 way switch, new scratchplate... It's almost a complete overhaul, but body, neck and most electronics are stock.

I'm 3 yrs behind you. I have one of these that is exactly the same, I liked the look of them and a guy at my local store (at the time) was nice enough to put one aside for me. He picked the honey of the bunch and its a brilliant little guitar, great action, feels nice and although it cost very little money if feels, plays and sounds great right out of the box. The one thing I don't like and agree 100% is the tone switch. It works but it looks bad and doesn't feel very solid. Other than that its a great little guitar especially if you don't play a ton but are looking to add a tele to the stable.

You can see glue joint at 3:07, it gets visible when your ceiling light hits the guitar: joint "brakes" the mirror image. Glue joint is around a-string.
@MattWhatsGoinOn9 жыл бұрын
You'll see that on any similar guitar with a more-than-one-piece body regardless of cost, and this is about as invisible as it gets, and if you don't see it when it's brand new, just give it a little time.

I did the exact same thing with mine regarding the saddles. It stayed stock for over 2 years and I thought I was happy... until... a friend was selling some solid brass saddles and solid steel smoothies from a project he'd finished and he offered me one or the other gratis. I went over and we swapped them out one by one. Solid steels first; a definite improvement over the rather lightweight threaded stock ones. Way more "ring" and "bite" to the tone and sustain was slightly improved. Then the brass... WOW! There was an improvement in everything, and I even obtained a passable jazz tone that my pal said, blindfolded, he could have believed was from the other guys! They stayed on and that's the guitar I pick up almost every day for an hour or so with a beer. Just for kicks mind, my "playing out days" are over, thank god! I'm yet to find it not perfectly in tune. Try that with any of my Gibsons or Gretschs 🙄 An absolutely blinding guitar for any money.

The 50's Vibe is the model with the butterscotch finish. The neck profile is thicker and has a maple fret board because it's suppose to be like 50's style neck. This model is a 60's vibe modeled after the 60's style Telecaster custom that had double binding on the body, slimmer profile on the neck and a rosewood fret board. Nice review. I have the same guitar. Just a few things: 1) No CVs have a veneer. It is made with anywhere from 3 to 7 pieces of Alder. I don't know how you don't see the glue joint. It is right at the A string on the back of the guitar. The Japanese that photo flames crack because the photo flame is a "photo". It is a picture glued onto the guitar and then sprayed with clear coat. 2) The neck is maple, not rosewood. The fretboard is rosewood and that has 0 impact on the tone. The strings touch the fret after where you press which shortens the length of the vibrating string. The string never touches the fretboard. 3) Both the butterscotch and the CVC use the same pickups with Alnico 5 magnets. The white has Alnico 3. You hear different things because of pickup height, intonation, etc. 4) The neck on the butterscotch and CVC are the same exact size. The only difference is the fretboard. There is no difference "from front to back". They are the same exact size. In fact, they start as the same exact necks from the same CNC blueprint.

Hey Skunizzi, love your channel. This guitar is solid alder. Just like the Classic Vibe 50's Tele is (two to four pieces of) solid pine. No veneer. Just a seamless joint of two or three pieces of solid wood. Which makes these guitars even more impressive: the quality of materials and workmanship is incredible for the money.

skunizzi I own both a Classic Vibe Custom and 50's Tele. I opened looked in the control cavity and checked the neck pocket on the Custom. Unless they veneer less well-matched bodies, I'm certain mine is not veneer. As well, there is a very faint (nearly) knot that seems to match up front to back as well. Now, if Fender's website is to be believed (LOL), they claim they're solid woods.

I have one and it is great! I've owned many Teles over the 50+ yrs I've been playing and this ranks right up there at the top. One question I have is about the brass saddles vs the steel ones it came with: you mention you thought it had more "sparkle" in the high end than in your CV 50s one. I have a set of brass saddles that I bought for mine, but I haven't replaced the steel ones because I assume that steel, being harder than brass, will automatically be "brighter". Did your change to brass saddles "mellow it out vis a vis your CV 50s?

When I played in bands more regularly I owned and played £1000+ guitars. To be honest with products like the Classic Vibe, the only reason to go high end is for 5-10% extra sound quality (that no one would hear in a bar gig), exotic finishes, and the 'romance' of a US-made model. If you want to play music the Squiers are great.

According to Fender, the nuts are synthetic bone on every CV Tele. Feels like plastic to me as well. As has been mentioned repeatedly, every model aside from the white/blonde uses alnico V's. I'd imagine the tonal differences you're hearing are maple versus rosewood fretboard, alder versus pine bodies and, as you noted, originally the non-brass saddles until the upgrade. As much as I also appreciate the finish on these burst versions, I also think the BSB and Pine/Maple build is significantly better sounding. I'll also echo that you should seriously consider replacing the vintage round string guide with the Fender tree roller style. It make an evident difference. Plus, a Graphtech TUSQ or real bone nut upgrade makes another noteworthy improvement. Those are the only 2 mods I've made on my CV BSB 2012 and it outplays every MIM and MIA Fender product I've ever owned. Sold both of my standard and deluxe MIMs after a couple months of buying my CV.

I have the exact same guitar, a 2009. Mine has a body made of 2 pieces of alder. They are very well matched though and you have to look very closely to see there are 2 pieces. My only other Tele is a Yamaha SD 120, also made with alder but 5 pieces. It is also a good guitar though the Squier is certainly better. Hello there 😊 I'm semi begginer The CV Tele with binding is made in china or Indonesia?
@onebigdarkroom39454 жыл бұрын
@@dimitrisaivaliotis5616 neither. They both have binding. The older China made ones(superior in my opinion) had more period correct setups-alder bodies with maple neck/rosewood fretboard while the newer Indonesian ones use poplar for the body and Indian laurel for the fretboard which is not at all a classic vibe. Its likely that the materials are inferior on the newer models but I can't confirm. The switch in woods come from concerns over sustainability of traditional woods used in the industry.
@onebigdarkroom39454 жыл бұрын
I meant either one. I'm sure they both play well for the money but I appreciated the line when it was first released because they tried to get all the setups to be as close to the originals as possible. t for info; You shouldn't worry about the body wood. The neck makes some difference I agree, if a maple fretboard, but on an electric the sound is from the electronics and strings really. Now, if your talking a very light weight wood body, (not in this case) then that will be obvious brighter and thinner tone but not with standard weight wood body really enough to even matter.

william siekman sorry, my butterscotch I just ordered IS pine. His cool sunburst is alder. :)

pikherz Hey bro, got mine a few days ago & it's hard to put down. The body's got some funky cool grain patterns & the neck even has a little flame action! Like the vast majority of owners are saying, these are VERY nice guitars.

Great review. From my research the butterscotch CV and this tele have the same Alnico 5 pickups. The "blond" or antique white tele uses Alnico 3 pickups. Slightly different sound. I own and love both. I am also a fan of brass saddles.

Funny because this amp sounds quite a bit different than the butterscotch Squier I own. I was sure the pickups were different. I guess it may just be the woods.

You can buy a better tele for the money, I love the CV series I own number of them, best money I’ve ever spent for an electric guitar. Buy one you won’t be sorry

is this guitar craft in indonesia?

I would suggest you change the round string tee for a raised spring tree with 2 rollers, your strings will last longer, are less likely to break and the guitar will sound better!

Beautiful guitar.The only thing I would do is adjust the saddles for better intonation.

the problem with high end Squiers is they're $450 - while $250 gets a used 90's Fender Mex that needs frets - $200 gets you new frets - hmmmm $450 - - used Fender Mex with new frets or New Squier CV ? oh hey...why not a $200 used Standard Series Squier and $250 in upgrades ? - most Squiers are just a temporary home for High End Pickups + Tuners you move from Squier to Mex to Hwy 1 to USA Standard

This guitar doesn't need pickup swaps, it's perfect as is ! It sounds and plays great... It's not an average high end squier

I have that guitar I've had it since my birthday in April, and it's September now and I can put the damn thing down! And mine looks like 3 pieces of alder but it could just be the wood, and with all the ones I've seen they all look different so I think it's the wood but I'm not positive I still have to check

Perhaps, when it comes to making guitars, we need to move on from the 'wood age' and when it comes to amplifiers, the valve age.' Progress keeps on moving. When us 'old ones' have gone, things might change, or will humanity keep reinventing the wheel? We'll be able to look down from heaven and see what the 'buggers' are (re) inventing next?

this guitar has lower output pickups...that was the same with the original fender version...lower output...it's a different tone..also the rosewood fingerboard will produce a warmer sound versus the maple fingerboard. i like both CV tele's..the 50' re-issue and this custom model..and man, you're being WAY too anal about this guitar..plug the darn thing in and play..
