My Gram used to make this same recipe long, long ago, except her recipe includes the juice and zest of one lemon, a few drops of lemon oil, and a tsp of poppy seeds. 💖 PS, the wires of a whisk are called “loops.”

I’ve made dulce de leche out of sweetened condensed milk! It’s fabulous. I simmer the can for 2 1/2 hours. When it’s cooled it’s such a lovely, slightly chewy texture and is amazing with some kosher salt or some cinnamon

I live in a really tiny apartment, and when I turn on the oven it heats up the whole apartment, which is awful in the summer! I bet this would be a great way to get around that.

I mentioned above about my portable electric roaster and how it is perfect for avoiding hot kitchens. The temp can be a little less even for things like baking cakes or breads, but a single pan of brownies works just fine and meats and vegetables are great. Many manufacturers make them, but a quick Amazon search is dominated by Oster. Not the one I have, but I have always been a fan of their products. Also, I can recommend those glass forced air countertop units for roasting meats and vegetables. I used one for years when I was married. (Lost custody in the divorce. 😁) It is essentially a convection oven, so cooks a little faster than some other options while keeping the room comfortable and it will give your your whole chicken or parts with skin an amazing finish. Also, I loved how easy it was to clean the glass base.

i would totally be okay not having an oven in my house, I mostly use a toaster oven and a microwave. This seems convenient for the space it would give. I do use the stovetop though... so if my oven was to break I would probably just buy a portable double induction burner.

dyfustifications the cake in a tres leches is very hard and dense comparatively so that it holds up to all the liquid it needs to absorb. This cake would most likely fall apart if it were soaked in milk.

In my experience it does work 😊 The Tres Leches cake usually has a more dense cake but you must poke holes when you pour the milk liquid, however, when using a fluffier cake like this one (I usually make a Bizcocho which is a cake with no butter, so it’s extra fluffy) you don’t poke since it soaks it better and and it turns out amazing!! Highly recommend trying it out 😋

Yeah, our oven broke and we had to learn pretty quickly how to cook everything in that which isn't too bad. It actually works pretty well. I mean if you know how to use it, you can cook literally anything in them. Pretty useful appliances, especially if that's all you have to use. Thank you Emmy for showing us how to make this and for showing us different rto make things. I also love how adventurous you are with the foods you make. I'm the same way, I'm willing to try anything at least once because if I don't like it then I don't have to eat it ever again but if I do end up liking it, well then I know now that I have something else that I can eat that I like. I've tried some pretty crazy things too and I'm so glad that I did because if I didn't, I wouldn't be eating some of my favorite foods because I wasn't willing to give it a try. But yeah, I really appreciate you doing this because if kids watch your videos, they know that it's okay to try new things. You really are a great role model for kids. I used to watch your videos with my niece but sadly she ended up moving away. But yeah, we used to watch your videos all the time and she loved you too but she was such a picky eater but because of you, she started trying some of the foods that she most definitely, under no circumstances would ever eat. I brought it out for her and she said "If Emmy can do it then so can I" and she ate it. It was only a can of raviolis but sje did not like it at all, absolutely refused to even touch it and now, she loves them. Thank you for making and sharing these videos with us. Wish I could still watch them again with my niece but it's fine, I'm just glad that she's happy where she's at. But yeah, again, thank you for making tgese videos.
