does antigravity batteries need some changes in charging system? what year is this SR you work on?
@JadusMotorcycleParts5 жыл бұрын
No, no changes to the SR charging system. However you will need a special charger for lithium batteries. And you cannot run them flat (under a certain voltage... 11V I think), otherwise you will destroy them. The SR in the video is a 1995 Classic. But I have worked on many SR's from the '80's as well :)

Could I also fit a kickstart instead of a battery? And is it me or are the kickstart versions very rare for the SR250?
@JadusMotorcycleParts5 жыл бұрын
Erik you can fit a kickstarter but you still need some form of battery (or large capacitor). The SR250 never came with a kickstart, thats’s why you don’t seem them. All the ones you do see are aftermarket installed ;)

Hello Do you have to change something in SR250 electrics to install lithium battery? Upgrade regulator/rectifier or relays in order to not to burn them or something? :) I am planning to replace battery with LiFePo4 Landport LFP14. Producer lists it as a direct replacement of original 12n12a-4a/yb12a-a but it has cca240 and I am a bit afraid that I will burn the motorcycle down :D Thank you Rafal_PL

Hi man, no, you will not need to change anything in the SR electrical system. We have been using lithium batteries for years on the SR without any problems :)

Will the 8 cell battery fit under the swing arm with the stock exhaust?
@JadusMotorcycleParts5 жыл бұрын
Hi Steven, no battery will fit with the stock exhaust actually - it has a large collector box that takes up all of that space. You could cut the collector box off and attach a clamp on silencer to the stock 'header' part of the exhaust - many people do this with good results.

I am finding it a challenge to install the stiff cable ties to hold the battery to the tray... also I have a question about routing of the starter cable. Since I shot the video, I think I figured out that yes, you can install the cable ties, after the tray, but the vertical one just goes around the swingarm, etc and uses only the front hole to keep it from moving side to side. As far as using the machined holes for the horizontal ties, That's my next step. I know the video quality is not great... no need to comment on that. The electrics is the final bit I am finishing before I can get this bike on the road. I have the Jadus seat, loop, performance kit, triangle tidy... very pleased with the quality. I'll post some pics when I get it installed. kzbin.info/www/bejne/l53deniYqciri7c
@JadusMotorcycleParts2 жыл бұрын
Good work! Looking forward to seeing the completed result :) You are correct that the cable ties are not easy to install, but with patience it is possible. And yes, the way you did the vertical cable tie is the same as what we did.
@cstory502 жыл бұрын
@@JadusMotorcycleParts Hmm, maybe I will try with the big cable tie again... Meanwhile I have routed the starter wire in a good place, it's plenty long. Finally I have a little puzzle in the wiring I cannot figure out (yet). I have a connecter toward the middle of the wiring harness, under the seat with two wires, the previous owner twisted them together after the connector (under the seat). The wire color is blue with yellow stripe and black. On the diagram it says B/Y "Black/Yellow" which I wonder if it's a mistake. I can see that there's a switch there that presumably must be closed for the starter to work.. .but the switch has been removed. What do you know about that?

Is the stock bar that the regulator rectifier is mounted to structural? Or can it be cut off the frame with out additional strengthening.
@JadusMotorcycleParts5 жыл бұрын
Although I would not recommend cutting it out, it is not strictly structural. It helps a little with frame flex through hard cornering (it is otherwise only held at the ending mounts and the upper welds) but unless you're racing, it won't harm anything and I don't think you would fail any safety inspection tests.

Hi Jake, Can i fit other batteries instead of the Anti Gravity or Shorai small case battery (LFX14L2-BS12)?
@JadusMotorcycleParts5 жыл бұрын
You could try the Ballistic battery (have used them with success). If you want to try other batteries, you would just need to check that the physical size matched these recommendations.

What's the benefit to relocating battery!!!!?????
@JadusMotorcycleParts3 жыл бұрын
1) So it is out of sight - so you achieve a 'clean triangle' as mentioned in the title of the video 2) You get a lower centre of gravity which helps with better handling

Maybe you all would be better of having a 5 minute think about, "just why no motor cycle manufacturer puts a battery there"
@JadusMotorcycleParts4 жыл бұрын
Hi Dale, thanks for tuning in to our channel! Motorcycle manufacturers do not usually put batteries under the swingarm because they have other constraints when designing a motorcycle for the mass market. We have sold many of these kits to very happy customers and are yet to have an issue. Happy wrenching and happy riding! Cheers

@@JadusMotorcycleParts .... " Thank you for your reply ".... My concern center's around the rear wheel rotation dumping all and any road detritus directly onto the battery, electrical component'y, wiring and associated connections. Although this "MAY" not be of "SUCH A PROBLEM" if the motorcycle is only to be taken out for a quiet ride when the weather is fine on clean roads.As no battery cover of any type is shown to stop ingress. One would think this should be water and muck proof when put in this position.
@JadusMotorcycleParts4 жыл бұрын
@@daleglastonbury96 The battery is not as exposed as you think. Debri from the wheel/tyre is mostly dispersed off of it and onto the rear guard (and inner guard inside the frame) before it reaches the swingarm. Then the battery is behind the swingarm and is protected by that as well. So it survives very well there (5 years now with no issues so far).
