After the Ottoman Turks finally captured Srebrenica in 1522 AD the Roman Catholic church was destroyed in Eastern Bosnia and the Ottoman Turks started to bring in Serbs into the region. Serbs started fleeing Srebrenica itself already in April, and by mid-May the town was ethnically clean.
