In Kandy I used to take the rail bus to Peradeniya in 12 minutes. Cheaper than the bus fair and faster. The bus takes solid one hour for 5 miles. The speed is about 30 miles per hour. This one goes at about 50 at least. Rail car (one) is generally used to do repairs and maintenance. My physics says this rail bus should run at a moderate speed. High speed would topple it at sharp bends / curves. No idea about the load it can carry.

@HaleefI3 ай бұрын
@@empatheticgrinch Yep, as per the above answer from Chaminda, the mileage is higher, and the fuel consumption is better than the standard bus on tires on the road, only a bit more fuel is needed in order to pick up speed after it starts from a halt, afterwards it rolls smooth.

Great initiative by SLRD. If government can allocate more fund and resources for R&D this would great success. All old unused buses in the depots can be utilized for shorter distances (ex: Rambukkana upwards, Nanuoya upwards, certain areas in Avissawella line, Negombo upwards, Nothern line). There are potential for this can be fully utilized and can generate money in areas where people fully depend on the train services. Also, this can reduced traffic as well like school services and staff services. Additionally, they can have premium compartments for private hires which can boost SLRD's revenue significantly to turn the department into profit generate sector.

The legacy left by the British upon granting independence included a well-maintained railway system with dedicated workers. The railway tracks were in excellent condition, the compartments were spotless, and the toilets were properly maintained. For solo travelers, the restaurant cars offered a welcoming atmosphere with friendly staff. However, those days are now a thing of the past. Due to increasing politicization, the condition of the railway has deteriorated, turning it into a burden and a source of distress for travelers.

The rail paid for itself via tea exports. But the advent of mass highway systems and the breakdown of mega plantations resulted in it being cheaper and more effective to transport tea via truck. Consequently a major source of income for the rail was eliminated, turning it into a passenger heavy rail. This was not so much an issue at first, prior to the Civil War Sri Lanka was wealthy enough to be financing infrastructure projects in other countries. Our bus transit was using Mercedes buses. But then the Rothschilds financed the Marxists to destabilize the country via legislation and then the JVP insurrection. When that failed the JVP members relocated into the LTTE continuing their war via the Elam Wars, and when that failed they rebranded themselves the NPP and seized control after sanctions, pandemic, and George Soros rug pulling the rupee crippled the economy. Consequently our bus, rail, and airline systems are all fucked up.

In this way start tram service in Sri Lanka. Many rail buses each 10 min. This method will save time and money to people and to the Government. Can cover all area. Big trains only for long distances and office hours. Later can develop as proper tram. Later can build electric cable on top of the rail line to run with electricity and diesel hybrid style. Because our cable can get damage easily because of the natural environment. But trams never import. Put honest workers even a military engineering teams to build these. Government can by from them by let them. Take technology guidance from other countries except India. China is the best. They have cheap and best technology and materials and skillful people. We want always to be away from India. Like Amarica separated completely from U. K. Good luck Sir Lanka.🌷🇱🇰.
