I took a first class $5 ride on Sri Lanka's most beautiful train route which was from Nuwara Eliya down to Ella Sri Lanka with my buddy ‪@harryjaggardtravel‬ and then we were surprised by ‪@GoWithAli‬ who appeared and joined us on the train ride down. I did this train ride from nuwara eliya to Ella in the same train in 2020 . It is the best train ride ever ! The views are just gorgeous . And yes we sat at the open train door sticking our feet out 😂Amazing experience about 6hrs long ride 😀I did this trip with my 19yr old daughter 😀Amazing memories . The Sri Lankan people took such good care of us mum and daughter . Felt so safe travelling around the country for 2wks 😀 The elephant safari in udawale national park and swimming with the turtles in hikkadua was the highlight of our trip 😀

Nanu Oya train station is big , when british built it in 1900s they also built a narrow gauage rail track witch was 2ft wide track from NanuOya to Nuwareliya and even further . It was dismantled in 1924. So the nanu oya was a big station then because Ella ,Badulla track and Nuwara eliya line was joining to colombo line from the station . Look up "DHR" line in india they are identical .

Take the morning intercity train from Colombo to Jaffna as well. A different but wonderful experience and then you can explore Jaffna as well. Will be a totally different geography.

Idalgashinna is the highest railway station in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka has recently started a new train (A/C)from Kandy to Ella, specially for the tourists , you can enjoy the views and even you can get off from the train in special places. Enjoy Mac!
