Hello Luke. Thanks for the stunning video on Sri Lankan village cooking. About Jack Fruit, we Sri Lankans eat Jack fruit in 4 different stages in 4 different styles. baby Jack fruit is cooked in clay pots with coconut milk nearly 12 hours and served as a curry called "Polos". I think it is the most vafourite dish of all Sri Lankans. Cane keep it 2-3 days without putting into freezer. Then Jack fruit sambol. Mixed with graped coconut. Then the the curry you ate cooked with coconut milk called "Kiri kos". Finally we eat ripped Jack fruit as a fruit. There are many varieties with different flavours. If a family has a jack fruit tree in his garden, his family will not starve without food as this is a all season fruit. Named as the rice tree of the nation.

You are so fortunate to meet such nice people. I've never had jackfruit curry before. At my house in Thailand, we have a few jackfruit trees. Personally, I find it a bit cloyingly sweet just to eat as a fruit. In a curry, I'm sure the character changes quite a lot. My wife's family has a farm similar to one where you enjoyed this meal. I'm sorry that I never had to visit Sri Lanka. Unfortunately, I've had to return to the U.S.because of health issues, but I hope to return if my health improves.

That's the kind of stove we had in our childhood, we used to use a pipe like that as well. It's been so many years since I heard that sound. Sri Lanka a beautiful island country full of landscapes full of hills and valleys is a famous tourist destination. Sleepy villages , tiled houses , agricultural lands that are found in the beautiful land of Kerala are also being witnessed here in Sri Lanka , a paradise for tourists. Look at the manner in which foreign tourists are enjoying their holidays in the deep villages by eating local food and mingling with people of the locality. They walk through the village lanes flooded with vegetation and it was nice to watch women plucking fully grown vegetables from their farms. Tapiocia , jack fruits all grown in plenty in this sleepy village of Sri Lanka. A video which has turned out to be a visual treat and a must watch !
