South East Asia is a lot of different countries. Each with different styles of food and different cooking traditions. Sometimes a country has had many visitors in the past who chose to stay. Then you get many cultural influences. Sri Lanka, quite a small country is one of those. A melting pot of lovely food and incredible flavours.

Even though Sri Lanka is classified as south Asian, it is the most ‘south east Asian-like’ of south Asian countries. Shares the same ocean , landscape etc, in fact some South Asian settings for Hollywood movies were Sri Lanka for example best picture winning bridge on the River Kwai

We fried the jackfruit seed and eat it....sometimes we fried it and smashed it with onion, green chilli and some spices & eat it with rice which is called bhorta.

Actually we do make several dishes out if Jack seeds..common one is jackfruit seed curry..it's a called black curry ..made with lot of spices..so delicious....

We also have this sweet balls but in a small protion and we call them "Moa". But I have never tasted the jackfruit one. Thanks for the recipe I would like to try that in someday. In my contry we eat jackfruit seeds as snacks after roasting it quite well and it use raw to cook with curry. Love from Bangladesh. Don't forget to stay safe. Have a safe journey. 😄

The fruit on the tree was not jak fruit, it was bread fruit. Also delicious but very different. Sri Lankan food is delicious. Nice to see the traditional buth parcel getting some coverage, they are delicious and very well balanced meals. This is an incredibly beautiful area of the island which is very pretty anyway.
