Ensar: Well, I can give the notes away or I can let you try it first and then see how on the mark your assessment is.
(Ensar swipes the Doc with the oil)
Doc: It smells very similar to some of the ouds that I have. I was smelling it last night. (Doc reaches for his collection)
Ensar: Such as. Here comes the collection guys. Brace yourselves.
Doc: Just to compare it. What I was smelling last night was the Oud Royale, the Boneo 3,000, and Kadi Khalbar, Khalbar 3,000…
Ensar: Those are some really big names, like real heavy hitters, so when you say these names KZbin might experience a…

Doc: Like it's right up there with them.
Ensar: I mean actually if you want to know the real providence of this, this is Vietnam so actually this would be above them just by that simple fact. Even though this is not from trees that are as old by any comparison or any means as let's say Oud Royale that you're talking about or Borneo 3000. Oud Royale and Borneo 3000 the thing about them is that they were distilled according to the Arabian aesthetic, you see what I mean. So they were fermented for a certain amount of time-not Borneo 3000. That's actually a mistake. Oud Royale was. You're talking about Oud Royale 1 or 2 here?
Doc: Number 2.
Ensar: No, numbers 2, then you're talking…we're in the same league as this. Then it's Japanese aesthetics. If we were talking about Oud Royale 1, that would be the traditional boiling of fermented wood, you know which is like the Indian, Arabian kind of system.
Doc: Yeah, so I never smelled Oud Royale number 1.
Ensar: Never?! You got to visit Sidi Yusuf. He has a bottle of that.
Doc: Really?
Ensar: You just got to tell him…he loves making coffee, alright just say, "I heard you make great coffee. I want to taste a cup from your hand. I have to…"
Doc: I've been there for coffee like three or four times.
Ensar: You got to tell him bring out the Oud Royale. You went there for coffee. I mean you're wasting your time.

Informative video. I heard Agarwood also grows in our island of Southern Leyte Philippines. I'm thinking of growing them for fun along side with coconut trees. It's illegal to cut them down at the moment. Bty, what's the best species to plant? Any recommendations? Thanks so much 😊

Yes, olfactory fatigue is actually a very useful tool among the more experienced perfumers. For comparison and contrast between samples as you have mentioned, and also for dry down comparisons which can help to demonstrate the layers. These are very good lessons to be mentioning.

On the authority of Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (radiAllahu anhu), the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said: "The likeness of a righteous friend and an evil friend is the likeness of a (musk) perfume seller and a blacksmith. As for the perfume seller, he may either bestow something on you, or you may purchase something from him, or you may benefit from his sweet smell. And as for the blacksmith, he may either burn your clothes, or you may be exposed to his awful smell."

I need to ask a question, is Sinking wood a grade of agarwood, or its a type. I mean that any agarwood tree can be of a sinking grade or its from specific region that makes it sinking agarwood.

Sniff Zone any agarwood tree can contain sinking-grade oud wood. It all goes back to the age of infection / wound / trauma. 🙂

Young and fresh men representing the Oud scene and fighting for us at the frontline to save future olfactory events. - I do not like the intro music. It’s too loud and does not represent in my opinion the relaxing and soothing message of Oud. Maybe some Oud-Music (the Arab Guitar) or Ney (Turkish flute). Please also zoom more in to see the real oil, the different colors and viscosity of Dihn Al Oud. What are the attributes to know about this holy oil. Questions that I have personally: How can I get a professional like you? Is Oud an investment worth? Does it make sense to do a business like it? What are affordable and good Oud by you and also by competitors? How can I feel the real Oil and differentiate from the fake Oil that has silicon in it (fake Musk that is spread in Mosques)?
