I've been a ProV1 ball player for several years. Then i tried the Z-star black diamond. What a golf ball and as a 3 hc its its amazing. The feel is awesome and it stops on a dime. I actually get a little more distance and it's my ball now.

I have actually recommended the diamond to quite a few players and the majority of them have switched from the ball they were playing. Really good feedback

Awesome feedback. I'm a fitter so i try every ball in the bay and am definitely seeing the diamond's shaping capability. I was hitting 130 carries with my MP221 pw with 10+yards of draw or cut turn. Might make the switch 😂

Thanks that was interesting! I guess Brooks gets to keep his ball. I would like to try a sleeve but I am happy to stick with Z Star. What I like with z Star is on windy days I can launch low to mid without extreme effort (not a pro). I can also get the z Star to rip to the side or backwards on the green from 80-100 yards on occasion.

What ball are you actually playing? I have a 92 SS and ive been playing this diamond ball, but just don't think its the ball. I feel its short for me. I got more out of the XV than the Diamond. Im wondering if the Q Star Tour is what im needing. Just curious as what you play as me and you are very similar

It honestly depends on the course I am playing. The Q star tour is one of my favorite golf balls. Top 10 for sure and possibly top 5. I would definitely recommend trying it.

@@GolfBallAddictThanks yeah I'm gonna go with it for awhile and see. It may very well be what I need. If I can gain a few yards off Driver and irons over the diamond then I'm in luck. Curious as to what your #1 overall ball is??

Over 6k spin with ur 7 iron with your swing speed is ridiculously good.
@GolfBallAddict Жыл бұрын
That may be so. However it's still below my average a little. Anything over 6k usually grips the green pretty good. Every once in a blue moon I'll get around 5600 and that becomes a little difficult to stick a green.

any ball recommendation for the callaway epic pro irons? i notice i get no distance no matter what ball i use. i can drive the ball 270-300 average, but my irons specifically 8-9, barely reach 150. can i legitimately blame the clubs at this point?
@GolfBallAddict Жыл бұрын
I am so sorry for the late reply. I have been doing some digging on these irons and contacting my reps. Callaways irons are legitimate for distance. I think the issue is that you might be expecting too much from the irons. The average distance with a 8 iron is 135. (personally I go about 140) and if you look at players who hit their drives 284 yards, their 8 iron distance is average 157. That's pretty in line. Im not sure if its your 8 or your 9 that goes that far, but those aren't bad numbers. I hit my nine iron about 120. There could be minor things you are doing, such as loft control or angle of attack, but my honest advice is that you should worry less about iron distance. mid and short irons are more finesse than anything. as long as there isn't any major gapping issues then it really doesn't matter. Heres how far each of your clubs should be going: (based on that 284 driver distance) Driver: 284 3 Wood: 239 hybrid: 221 4 Iron: 199 5 Iron191 6 Iron: 180 7 Iron: 169 8 Iron: 157 9 Iron: 145 Pw: 134 Those are just averages based on a 110 MPH swing speed (which would arrive at a total distance of 284 with driver) Do those match up for the most part?

Hi, Great videos. Been following your stuff alot and love your presentations. I,m a year into golfing at age 61 and have much to learn yet. I have to ask you if you could steer me to a golf ball that will help me achieve a "straighter" flight from the tee box. I have tried wilson ultra 500 straight and found that they seem to help but lose quite a bit of distance. I feel i can trust your judgement on a recommendation. Sure would appreciate it.
@GolfBallAddict Жыл бұрын
Yeah unfortunately the 500 is a swing and a miss for me as well. Here are 5 great golf balls that go very straight: 1: Cut Red 2: Bridgestone e9 3:Diawings Distance 4: Titleist Velocity 5; Wilson Duo/ or zip
@billvarga8336 Жыл бұрын
@@GolfBallAddict Nick, Thank you sooo much for taking the time to do this for me!! You're the best! I know you like cut red balls but I missed that they go straight as well. Gonna have to get some and try them. Just bought a box of maxfli straightfli which I have been using a couple weeks with decent success. straight and good distance. Also bought a double dozen zip balls so I'll be trying them too. It will be good when I make a choice between them all so I can play ONE ball like they say you should. I will let you know my thoughts on them as I try them. Thanks again.
@jimwocha494911 ай бұрын
drop your loft from 10.5 to 9 and see the spin come down and therefore more carry and distance. Launch at 16 with a driver is too high so you are losing distance. should be in the 12-14 range.
@GolfBallAddict11 ай бұрын
This is obviously a debate, there's nothing factual or 100% here. Depends on who you ask. However every golf instructor I've spoken to has told me that mid to high swingers should be using a 10 and a half degree loft. Keep in mind my average driver launch degree is 14, this one just launched higher than usual. In the past I've tried using 9° but I just don't get enough height and the ball stays way too low to the ground. From what I've been told, until you get to about 105 mph you should stay away from 9°. But again, it's a common debate
@jimwocha494911 ай бұрын
@@GolfBallAddict there's no hard and fast rules. It depends on your delivery rather than absolute swing speed. I swing about 5 mph faster than you (average is right around (97) with the odd swing around 100mph. Not fast by any means. I play a 9 degree head. 10.5 just pops up way too high for me and I lose distance. I still hit it fairly high with a 9 degree but I do have an upward angle of attack and lower spin than you of around 2000. Have you had your angle of attack measured on a launch monitor? Love the reviews by the way. Just bought a double dozen of the Wilson zip for winter golf in the UK. I use the staff your model in summer. Do you still rate the zip?

The pro V1 and the provie One X unfortunately do not test well on my channel with average swing speed. So if your swing speed is average, 90 to 100 mph, I prefer the diamond over the pro v1 X.

I'm a 10 handicap. This ball was very difficult to control with my driver. Lots of side spin. The durability was aweful. One ball cracked in half mid round (didnt even survive 9 holes.of golf). You need to be a low handicap golfer to be able to control this ball.
@GolfBallAddict5 ай бұрын
Hey andrew, thanks so much for sharing your feedback. Completely agree with you on the low handicap take. It doesn't surprise me considering it was specifically made for a tour pro. I firmly believe that most mid-ish handicaps should play the z Stars if they feel they have the ability to. Now I have an experienced the durability issues. But next time I review the updated model of this ball I will take a closer look at it.

I'm not sure if you're referring to my normal averages or specifically this ball. If you're referring to specifically this ball, then I definitely agree with you. That's why these firmer golf balls usually don't work out for me. However the golf balls I game on the course, such as the tour response, I get about 125 to 130 with my nine iron. Followed up with 140 with my eight, and then 150 with the seven.
