I don't really understand what the a, b, and alpha values mean. They're constants, but are they propane constants? What about alpha? Where did the alpha calculation/formula come from?

+Syvmana Thanks for your question. The a, b, and alpha values are just part of the SRK equation. They are used separately to simplify the equation. The original equation only works when a, b, and alpha equal the above terms. If these terms weren't pulled out, the original equation would be overwhelming.

Is the propane charged in liquid form or gas form? Does it matter?

It does not matter if it is at steady state when measuring the pressure as long as 4.5 kg of propane is put in. You can put that propane in much faster if it is in liquid form. When I needed to add a lot of ammonia I would turn the tank over (it had no dip tube) and I would add liquid and it would add faster, if I wanted to add only a little bit I added gaseous ammonia and I kept the tank upright.

You could try using a spreadsheet because that calculation would be much harder. I think using Excel Solver would work.
