I just bought a 2009 Road Star Warrior, last Saturday.... She is a BEAST!!!!

Just came back from Montana, oldest friend I know has a big badass house and 2 bikes. He has a very well maintained like new 2009 Honda 900 sport bike and a 2005 Yamaha warrior that I call mine. Our other old friend comes down from Canada with his hiyabusa and we sport tour. The warrior has taken the challenge of keeping up with these sport bikes and carving serious corners all day! We just got back from a 1492 miles trip(Columbus trip) thru Montana-Idaho-Washington and it even rained a little… the warrior not only hung but over some very curvy roads left them to the point they thought I went over the side! It’s a great do everything, utilitarian cycle!

The Roadstar Warrior was the reason I got into motorcycles to begin with. I saw one in a parking lot around 2002 and it was love at first sight. Never owned one though. I’m on my third bike now, started with a Honda A.C.E. 750 then a VTX 1300. I found very good deals on those while searching for a Warrior. Now I’m riding the Warrior’s big brother, the Stratoliner 1900 (2008 w/3,400 miles for $5k😎) which is plenty big, powerful/fast enough for me. But, I still would love to pick up a Warrior one day.

I bought the 2006 yamaha warrior midnight 3 weeks ago. My goodness, it's perfect. From the stance and your seating position that makes you feel so badass when you bend forward with your arms straight out on a drag bar. To the power delivery at 200 pounds less than harleys with the same engine size. Mine had 24k miles on it and it was showroom condition cosmetically for $5k.

I used to have an '06 and loved it. I put mini apes on it because leaning foreward with my legs extended foreward got old real quick. Rode it from Portland, OR to San Francisco on highway 101 two times, the second time with a passenger. One thing about the bike is its very hard to stick to speed limit. Especially when you're on the highway doing long trips and it's happy place seems to be right at 85 mph. Anything below that feels like you're dragging your butt. Above 90 it starts vibrating pretty bad though, at least mine did. Seen a lot of good times with that bike. Traded it for a 2018 Concours 14 after 2 years of owning it. But yeah, great looking bike.

Bought my 'stage three' warrior in 2002. It dyno'd @ 137 HP at that time. 75,000 miles later, it runs like it did when it was new. I now have two identical Warriors for the purpose of parts. They're getting hard to find. I love that bike, and the Bandit (bought new in 2000) too. I think the 1200-S Suzuki Bandit, might be the best bike ever built, but the Warrior is a VERY close second. 75,000 miles, and no problems? Unheard of. Not a tic, or even piston-slap that I can tell. Been all over the country on the Bandit though. I went to eastern Nebraska once on the Warrior, and couldn't walk for a day...lol But the bandit though, what a bargain bike for power, comfort, and longevity. Re-vamped GSXR (oil cooled) engine, and bullet-proof. Hard bags, tank bag, and you could drive it to the moon and back comfortably. Only draw-back, is the 400 mile range. But then again, the range on the Warrior is 100 miles. But on that bike, you wanna get of it every 100 miles (at least) anyway....lol

I drive an MT-01, its the bike not sold in usa and Yamaha replaced it with the warrior in that region. They both sure are very unique bikes and the 01 and warrior even differ very much from each other as well. I think there is nothing really out there like those bikes. U sure dont wanna underestimate them in many ways. The MT-01 was more of a naked biked with the same muscle/cruizer characteristics as the warrior. They both shared the same engine, “the warrior” but the engine in the MT-01 used a lighter crankshaft and pushes more air into the engine. Not sure how much they difference real life on their mechanical performance. Built quality seem top notch on both.

And yet the bike your heart is aching for does exist based upon exactly the same 1700 Cc V-twin: The Yamaha MT-01, you know, the bike you Americans could not have since Yamaha USA decided not to import this bike for you guys... So the MT-01; what kind of bike is that, well At Yamaha in Japan they stripped a 2005 Yamaha R1: all fairings came off and they took out the 4 cylinder R1 engine and they placed a Road Warrior 1700 Cc engine into the R1 Frame....made it all fit very well and so The Yamaha Frankenstein MT-01 was born. Since the bike is based up on a Yamaha R1 Frame with the Yamaha R1 front fork/brakes and the Yamaha R1 rear fork/brakes, this bike rides like a dream, also when the corners are hit, after all this is a Yamaha 1700 Cc V-tiwn R1. So basically the MT-01 (Master of Torque number 1) is no, I repeat, no cruiser, but a naked bike based up on a Naked Yamaha R1 frame/ undercarriage. Go see de video named: This Bike Was NEVER RELEASED In The US | Yamaha MT01 Review

I've had an '03 Warrior and there's only 2 things I didn't like. First - small tank for long rides (180 kilometers for reserve light) and second - that damn seat! Week ago I've did exactly the same ride of 560 kilometers, as I've did on Warrior last year, but now on (my brother's) VFR800 (raised clip-ons), and I must say, I miss this big bastard (had to sell it because of lost work). Sure, my butt hurt like hell, but VFR is not as fun as Warrior, and I've hurt my wrist (it's still painful after a week). And yeah - instead of refueling 3 times, I've done only one. Even after a year I still hear the sound of the rave party I've made in a tunnel in Warsaw last year (V&H 2-1 pipe) :D Now the problem is, I don't know if I should rebuy a Warrior or try adventure bikes (either or if someone knows about Warrior like bikes that can haul my arse through those 560 kilometers with some luggage - just tell :D...and preferably something that turns better than a brick on mountain corners :D)

Just bought one. This bike really needs a 6th gear for highway. Idk if its the wind but the bike dies after 100mph and climbs really slow. Yamaha going from an entire BRAND of "Star Motorcycles" to pretty much abandoning the segment shows just how dead the cruiser segment is at the moment. I had an 1st Gen V-Max years ago and really want to pick up one of these Warriors one day, the M90 Suzuki is pretty tempting too and they actually still sell those new (for now). Sean nailed it with the < rider position on these bikes, but for most of the bent up S position on a sport bike isn't any better for long riding days. If 99% of your riding is going to work, and Saturday morning rides then the riding position isn't a huge deal. If your riding consists of Iron Butts, or regular 300 mile days of twisties; Yeah, look into other bikes.

Great bike! I wanted an Onyx Road Warrior so bad when they came out! Never got it. By the way, think about you guys every time I pass Kelly Cadillac now! Trip to Dutch Apple last night and I’m thinking, wonder where SRK is at! Lol!

What would you take VTX 1800 or a warrior 1700 I see both of them going if you look for about three grand each

if money was no object, would you take a M109 Suzuki or a Yamaha Warrior 1700?

I just bought this exact bike last week. It’s my 1st bike, and I have absolutely no riding experience. I don’t care I still love this joint 🤣😂 just need a lot practice in an open parking lot.

Beautiful design that doesn't get old. How do you compare power and acceleration of the Warrior to Suzuki M109? I hope you will get the new generation V-Max soon and test that beast. Please do a test ride on 2011 CBR 1000 Fireblade.

The 109 is faster but clumsier

It will take the m109 in a 0 to 60 my old man has the m109 and I have a 2007 warrior I'm ahead of him until we hit about 60 70 then he takes a 2 bike lengths ahead. Both are great bikes.

Completely off topic question. What kind of boots are you wearing?

Sean you said you were not sure what cruisers Yamaha is still making? A quick google search to the Yamaha motorcycle site, (www.yamahamotorsports.com/motorcycle) shows the closest thing to a cruiser is their, "Sport Heritage" class which has 7 models, Vmax, Bolt R-Spec, Bolt, XSR900, XSR700, SR400, and V Star 250 so the VMAX has 102ci and the Bolt R-Spec has a 58ci motor and the rest of the "cruisers" have less cubic inches than that so yeah no more big V-Twin power cruisers like the Yamaha Raider, besides the VMAX. I'm hoping in a few years they bring back the Raider new and improved with a stock 250mm rear tire, and have a blacked out, a chrome, and a touring package from the start. Blacked out for $13K, chromed out for $15K, and touring package for $17K.

Just so you know, "all the cars in Europe" are mostly diesel, and it has huge amounts of torque as a result
