Great to see this back in production. Had the bagged versions as a kid and picked up a couple boxed ones in the 00s before prices went silly. As you pointed out the parts are all over Anderson productions and also most of the 2001 miniatures.

I kept asking on the Airfix live streams for a few years now for the SRN1 to be re released, glad it's finally here :)

Well then i guess its going to take them forever to release the likes of new Tornado or Mirage (a vintage classics release).

Yes I think this will be a big hit. It is a good little kit. A great subject. and I think the only kit of this historic machine.

Thank you for the heads-up! I just called my local hobby shop to have one reserved. I never got the chance to build one of these back in the day . . . .

Picked one up today and immediately saw a Federation starship in the the main body of the SRN1. So will be grabbing a couple more!

I myself have been hoping for nearly a decade to get a hold of this particular kit in general. In fact I've learnt it was used on the Narcissus Shuttle from Alien via some Pictures of a replica build.

I have ordered three. One I shall build, as I had it as a kid, and enjoyed making it then; and the other two will be for greeblies - and, as you know, there are a great many unique and useful parts in this kit. Not least, the pilot figures, which I have earmarked for something that possibly never existed, but the idea behind it is fact, and that is a 'Texan/Harvard' aircraft, in the service of the CIA's 'Air America'. Nobody really knows everything they got up to, and having several 'Texan/Harvard' kits, I thought that it might be fun to have one in an all-black paint scheme. The figures in the SRN-1, are nice examples of cold war era pilots.

I've got this on pre order for use in the 1:350 scale TB2 hangar project I'm working on.

Hi Matt, everyone seems so excited about this somewhat odd kit. Who knew?

Yeh..Outside of the 'Thunderbirfs' connection it is quite a beloved kit and subject. The Worlds first hovercraft. it has had only a few releases since it was first released 6 decades ago. I'd love to see a kit in 32nd (or 35th) or 24th of this thing. Thanks for watching.

Useful for parts, depends on the price though, if its a cheap 'vintage classic' I'll buy a few. I'd like to see the old SR71 rocket plane released as a low cost classic. They are very handy for toy 'space base fighters' (so I would need a good half dozen). If you cut a hole in the forward wheel bay, pour in some Araldite and insert a beheaded nail at an angle you can use an old bicycle rubber inner tube stretched between two fence-posts to launch it out over some fields. Flies really well* and the araldite reinforced nose copes well with the terminal deceleration when it returns to earth. *Might not apply to a new tool, the weight of the original wings put the centre of gravity just where it needed to be, it wasn't just a dart, it glided well.

Sadly, you only get the two crew figures. I built one 45+ years ago, but it's a rather nice little model.

It's a fun little kit. Glad Airfix is bringing it back. Don't feel so guilty building an original boxing. Now, let's ask for the SNR4 to get repopped.
