When it goes red it doesn't mean you need to shift it means you're redlining the engine and wants you to lay off the throttle. Not all cars shift on red line and pretty sure if there is one it's rare.

This reminds me of when I remember when I had to pick up a 2013 viper GTS (just like the one in the video). That thing gave me such an adrenalin rush, through the car's raw power, that it was literally taunting me to down-shift and go full throttle. I mean the car literally did not catch any traction until I hit 3rd gear at 97mph (granted that was on my first launch). I mean it basically had a mind of it's own. The difference between seeing youtube videos about driving this car, and actually driving it yourself is beyond huge. You have to actually drive one in order to really know how fast it is.

This is reliable big male engine that can reach 3000 hp ... they are god engines like the Lamborghini V10 and R35... Avg 18l/100 is absolutly perfect result. In normal 2,0 car, with full throtle acceleration you can normaly reach 30-40l/100 current. So 2x more with about 4 times larger engine is perfect! My old x-type 3,0 4x4 Avg about 12-13 with normal driving, Tihs is just a little bit more :-) Like!

Ich habe eure Beschleunigung in dem Video mehrfach mit einer Stoppuhr gemessen, wtf knapp 3 Sekunden von 0 - 100 Km\h, wow wie habt ihr das geschafft? Die offizielle Angabe sind ja 3,4 Sekunden, wo die meisten Tester allerdings eher so bei 3,6 rauskommen. Dafür aber wird hier teilweise extrem schlecht geschalten, viel zu lange Schaltpausen und von Gang 5 in Gang 6 viel zu früh, obwohl ich mir natürlich vorstellen kann, dass man bei dieser Geschwindigkeit nicht genau drauf achten kann, man muss ja hochkonzentriert darauf achten, dass Auto stabil und auf Kurs zu halten. Bezüglich aber den langen Schaltpausen - Kommt mir bitte nicht mit den "Viper Getriebe" Argument. Ich habe mehrere offizielle Tests gesehen, wo mit der SRT Viper 1000 mal schneller geschaltet wurde.

Possibly the worst manual shifting I've ever seen in an acceleration video. Bouncing off the rev limiter almost every shift, launching the car way too high and spinning all the way through 1st gear. Slow shifting at above 100mph and losing speed between each shift. No wonder a bunch of morons in the comments below think this car is slow. Slow driver, fast car.

there is no need to redlimit the engine into the rpm restrictor and than shift; it sounds terrible and engine power is over peak. That V10 has enough torque and power for slow shifting at 6000 rpm safe and t sounds much better than in redline.

i tried a gts from 96 a couple days ago and noticed something odd. who the f*** made that gearbox ? it got a wierd travel to second gear . like you need to move it down and a bit to the left. feels wierd when you shift fast. they should change that gearbox and swap the plastic interior with hand stitched leather. looks so cheap inside.

Credit where it is due; the Viper has become a genuine alternative to the Corvette which the previous generations had to play second fiddle. It is still rather raw, and the lack of a DCT really hurts performance. The C7 Stingray & R8 V10 is faster despite being less powerful. And as thatabu stated, the 911 just blows its doors off. Raw != Speed in 2014 anymore I'm afraid.

SqueakyFeet I will take back the C7 Stingray, but the R8 V10+ still blows the doors off the Viper in both 1/4 & 1/2 mile runs; only the until ~240km/h the Viper starts catching up, but by then the R8 would have already gotten a big lead. As I restate: Raw power does NOT equal speed anymore. The R8 V10+ with its rapid S-tronic shifts is much faster than any human driver can do with the Tremec 6sp, and gains an absolute advantage.
