"least intensive job" ... right. Nothing like manning cargo alone and getting yelled at by half the station. Everyone needing stuff all the time... Antags perusing your airlock as free EVA, hijacking the shuttle or forcing you to order contraband at gunpoint... But hey, at least they were nice enough to provide something sellable. Even if it was just rat corpses - which were worth a surprising amount of money back then.

Honestly any core job is pretty stressful alone. You are responsible for everything with none of the thanks.

@@Liltenhead I had a lot of fun, tho (and even a bit of !!FUN!! by malicious compliance) Once I knew the rat trick, I just made people bring me dead vermin as payment and since QM seemed to be the least picked role I could basically order whatever I wanted every round. Great for learning game mechanics. :D
@kaiser6740 Жыл бұрын
Cargo was so fun to do, either you got great techs team, a qm that actually bosses around and everything runs smoothly or things go completly wrong and you end up in the bar listening to music, talking to folks 'till eventually the station faces his demise from lack of supplies.

ok so without guidance from anyone what are good/safe things to just start selling? for instance in my last round the cargo guys just started selling every water and fuel tank they could find.
@Liltenhead Жыл бұрын
Basically anything in maint is fair game within reason. Like don't try to sell every single thing in maint. But if you need money, you can justify maint diving for some cash. Don't sell equipment the crew needs though. Like don't sell every water or fuel.

Where does the money come from? Is it the stations fund or a personal fund?
@Liltenhead Жыл бұрын
Station fund, comes from cargo selling anything they want.

Wait, you can press what to reorient? I've been trying to figure this out forever. It's it 8? Is that the default bind?
@Liltenhead Жыл бұрын
8 on numpad orients you to the stations default camera orientation 7 and 9 rotates left and right

Why not sell rando things around the station. Doesnt that kinda maintain the spirit of SS13 (low RP servers anyway)?
@Liltenhead Жыл бұрын
I can't really comment on the spirit of 13, as I never played it. We decided that cargo selling station equipment for money didn't really make sense RP wise. Why would NT employ people to sell their issued equipment is the route we took. Of course there's always a way to roleplay doing so, like if nukies are coming feel free to sell whatever you get your hands on.
@spectrem12 Жыл бұрын
@@Liltenhead Well, low role play servers (on SS13) are typically sandbox free for all... Besides griefing/killing for no reason... And really, if you are stealing things... security should arrest you.. and you can RP your character needing cash fast... Same goes for vandalism.. security should be warned and they deal with it, rather than it just being a server rule or taboo.. Also, I HIGHLY recommend you play SS13 to see the features that they have there. I asked in another video about cyborgs and AI.. b/c thats one of the most fun classes to play in SS13... having to follow Asimov ruleset in a RP fashion is really unique.
@Saucy_Wiggles Жыл бұрын
@@spectrem12 Are the controls between SS14 & 13 mostly the same? I played SS13 a bit but the learning curve was too much for me at the time. I have had a better time getting into SS14 and having experience in that makes me feel better about trying SS13 again.
@spectrem12 Жыл бұрын
@@Saucy_Wiggles the key binds are fairly different, but the mechanics are similar. But SS13 has been around a very long time and has very in depth systems that take a long time to learn... you're always learning something new. Once you get past the initial learning curve, I think you will prefer ss13 over ss14 (for now).. Like my fav role was cyborg and the role playing it brings to the game is awesome.. having to follow Azimov laws but then getting emagged by a traitor and them rewriting your laws.. very fun stuff
