I'm pretty sure these "houses" are actually studios or meeting rooms. While there may be a designated living space, that area isn't meant for public display. Whenever the owner needs to meet with guests, host events, or film something, they redecorate the area as needed. When the event is done, they clean it back up in preparation for the next event.

So many good houses are there of actual celebrities, architectural digest is a good place to check. I think it’s the personality of the person living in the house which decides how welcoming it is. One of the most colorful houses I ever saw and left an impression was of Taylor Swift’s house (the one in vogue 73 questions is good, almost a normal American house, but I’m taking about different one I saw somewhere in a magazine about houses, they said she sort of showed her living room area in a scene of her documentary film. these people have like 10 houses). It was literally the comfiest shit I’ve ever seen, colorful as a freaking carnival (entire ceiling of her dining room was covered with colorful drapes with a big chandelier right above the dining table lighting it up otherwise it would be so dark up there, contrasted by the very light colored ceiling of kitchen right beside it) and not a single corner of that house was left unthought about.
