Its a purge hose... in case the radiator fluid level gets too high or under too much pressure. If fluid comes out of that it usually means you got a problem with your cooling system being overwhelmed.

Michael, I've almost reached the end of the process, where I close the cap and set the temperature to maximum, but up until now I've only put 2 liters of coolant in the radiator, none of it fits anymore. The manual says that there is room for 2,580 liters in the radiator and 230 ml in the small tank. thanks to the availability

Hmmmm you must have a big old bubble in the system still! At least thats my guess. More cycles and swaying back and forth needed?

If you're talking about the old bubble I think you're right. Before I decided to change the coolant, I noticed a problem with the bike. In practice, every time I went out on my motorbike and then came back in, I noticed that from the small tank under the motorbike the level always dropped when the motorbike was cold and it was like this. It wasn't normal so I decided to change the fluid and do the procedure.

I was looking for instructions for changing coolant before I came across this instructional video, and what I saw is that it is necessary to fill 2.8 liters of a mixture of coolant mixed with about 50 percent distilled water Here in the video I saw that you only filled coolant without mixing in distilled water. Is it okay to fill the entire 2.8 liters with coolant only or do I really have to dilute it with distilled water?

Great job and thank you so much for this video! I'm about to do this on my 2019 GSX-S750 tomorrow. I'm fully prepped. I am going to flush it with demineralized water once, as the fluid has not been changed since 2019 (Suzuki Long Life Coolant), but that process is not going to be as thorough as it's going to be with the actual fluid. How long did it take you between running the engine and letting it cool down? Would the entire process be doable in about 4-5 hours?

what is the 'normal' operating temp of the GSX-S750? what temp does the thermostat open? what temp does the cooling fan kick on? these are the numbers from the repair manual. fan - 'on' 221F, 'off' 212F. thermostat - 176.9 - 182.3 F coolant fluid engine - 2.73 QUART(us) reservoir - 0.24 QUART(us)

The reservoir bottle should be at high when the engine is hot and low when cold . It’s an expansion bottle in essence.

Just noticed the connection hose between both front calipers, is there anything in the kit that came to neaten it up as it looks like it could be flapping about over the front fender? Another great video by the way. The breaided brake line vid was awesome too!

Hey man question for you--- got about 3k miles on GSX-S and when cold the coolant level in reservoir is just above the low line-- wondering if I need to top it off or if it's normal have gotten conflicting info from several sources.

The suzuki manual says "Check the engine coolant level by observing the "F" and "L" lines on the engine coolant resevoir tank. If the level is below the "L" line, add engine coolant to the "F" line from the engine coolant resevoir tank filler behind the oil pan." What that means is F is full. And anywhere between L and F is safe. Below L means it's too low and needs to be topped off. I hope that helps!

Awesome, comprehensive video. Just bought a 2018 gixxis 750. Coolant level is a bit low so I want to top it up, but I didn't know what do with that hose holder. Oddly enough, the top surface of it was covered in a thick, sticky black grease. Any idea where that might have come from? Maybe it's like that from the factory? I don't see anything leaking above it. Thanks, God bless.

Thank you brother! The grease is from your chain. It spins so quickly on the front gear that it splashes grease in that area 👍

Manufacturers guidelines say dump and fill. And the fill process is exactly as I demonstrated 👍 if your maintenance is as recommended you won’t need to flush or clean anything. But if it’s old old old and neglected then yes you would probably want to clean the scale and filth out of the system with a flush. And not necessary to remove the radiator. The bubbles are coming from inside the engine and inside the radiator. They come out without a problem and heat cycles are necessary to burp the system. You dont want to remove the radiator. 👍

Change it for sure 👍 but you might have a bad radiator cap that isn’t allowing pressure to release .... or a cracked head gasket. Are you overheating? If so it could be thermostat. Is your fan coming on when it gets hot? I’d be surprised if you had a bubble in the system. And I think a bad water pump would be rare. Make sure all of your coolant lines are solid, not cracked or leaking. 👍 Hope you fix it 🙏😎

its your radiator cap...its coolant start come out when you stop at traffic light or stop at any junction but when you riding your motorcycle its looks normal but when stop and your engine is hot coolant start come out from overflow pipe

Hi Michael. First of all Thank you for this excellent tutorial. I plan on to do this service by my own on my 2016 gsr 750, just wanted to make sure, what is the purpose of that red stand that held your gsr in its middle? is it a must for this kind of service or rear and front stands would be enough? another question is in minute 14:00, when you opened up that air bleeder under the gas tank, i couldnt notice the amount of coolant that ran out from there. what should i do when opening it? let whats coming out from there going out till nothing goes anymore or actually in the second the coolant starts coming out i need to put the bolt back on quickly and close it as just to make sure there is liquid coming out and no need to let it all spill? Thank You!

I had just finished rebuilding my front forks. The red stand was holding the bike up in the air when the forks were removed. Not necessary for the coolant swap! :) Opening the air bleeder is to make sure there is fluid. If you open it and no fluid, then their is an air pocket. Not good. It means you would have to keep bleeding the system. So once you open it and see fluid come out, you're good! Close it up.

I went to the non toxic antifreeze - the popular brand is engine ice. Just seemed right. No problems. The regular stuff is nasty, and can also kill pets - so yes, be careful with spills and open containers - dogs love the sweet taste.

Definitely have to be careful with coolant. No dogs near us out in the woods. And I simply followed the manufacturers spec. I’ve always wondered why most manufacturers don’t spec engine ice as an alternative. I’ve worried it had to do with how it protects engine parts. Also seems odd that engine ice is made from the same stuff used to winterize my campers plumbing. Anyway I know people use engine ice and it works for them but it’s more expensive so that is also a factor for some. Whatever you use, they are all toxic, even engine ice albeit far less, and need to be handled with care. Ride safe my friend! Thank you for sharing!

It doesn’t have to be cold cold. Just not hot enough to burn your hand :) it’s not under pressure at this point because the cap is still off. And at this point in the cycle you let it run and let it sit for a little while to let any remaining bubbles come out. So it should be safe and luke warm. 👍

When running upto temp did you get a overflow of bubbles that spat out the radiator ? I did I assumed that be the thermo opening and letting all the air out hah mess mess also running up to temp once it stopped bubbling I noticed it would just start to push the fluid out the radiator when it was running is this normal no bubbles just a over flow of coolant when letting it warm up?

I did! Some pushed out and I had to wipe it up. I shut it off, it bubbled, then started again. Normal mess lol :)

From the pics they look like the same part! If you're going to buy one of those nice carbon mudguards, make sure you buy it from someone who will refund it if it doesn't fit :)

I think 20k miles is way too soon to change the fluid. Especially the blue coolant.

The suzuki service manual for this specific bike shows replace Blue coolant (super long life coolant) at 14,500 miles or 48 months whichever comes first.

The manual says 2.7 US qts (84 oz) not including the reservoir so I bought two 64oz bottles and had some left over.

@@janborowski9211 I understood what you meant! It might help but not mentioned in the manual. The air bubbles are mostly in the engine case/radiator. Perhaps squeezing would push fluid out? I followed the recommended procedure and it worked great :)

I have never done a coolant change on a car or any of my bikes.... never a problem with a water pump. several bikes had over 50k miles on them before I sold. SO I will continue to never change my coolant. just isn't needed

I do understand your perspective. Mine is a little different however when it comes to motorcycles. Radiator fluid, which acts as a lubricant and slowly looses its viscosity, can suddenly come leaking out of a failed water pump which can get under your tire which can definitely be a problem. In a car, you roll to a stop when there's a failure so we tend to ignore some maintenance items. And so on motorcycles maintenance intervals seem too extreme but its because a failure can kill you or land you in a hospital for an extended stay. With that perspective, radiator fluid seems like a cheap and simple maintenance item and worth the effort. At least that's how I look at it.
