NOBODY CAN MERIT ANYTHING. THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE. WE CANNOT SAY "I merited this" . Please reconsider your statement. That we, poor humans that we are, can indeed merit (when certain things are in place) is of the Catholic Faith. Consult your catechism. Even the new Catechism of the Catholic Church says we can merit with the help of God. Do we not chant and pray all Easter: "for He whom thou (referring to Blessed Mary) didst merit to bear" in the Regina Caeli??
