St Augustine Florida - The Oldest City in the U.S
St. Augustine is a city on the northeast coast of Florida. It lays claim to being the oldest city in the U.S., and is known for its Spanish colonial architecture as well as Atlantic Ocean beaches like sandy St. Augustine Beach and tranquil Crescent Beach. Anastasia State Park is a protected wildlife sanctuary. The Castillo de San Marcos is a 17th-century Spanish stone fortress with views of the St. Augustine Inlet.

My hometown. I used to be a pirate reenactor there. The group was called A.C.P. Ancient City Privateers. You also had the Blackheart, who was lead by Bill Mayhem. He used to skipper that lil pirate ship over there at the downtown marina. Love me little spat-o-land. Always good to see folks enjoying it and the historical stories it has to share. Theres a TON of em.

Love ST. A. We visit our kids 2x a year and stay at the Edgewater Inn, right across Bridge of Lions from downtown. Always stop at the Tini Martini Bar for a super cold martini! Just a few miles from World Golf Village, and the tiki bar at Whiskey Willow Ranch.

There is so much more not shown here. Alot of these stores on St. George Street are mom and pop shops! So they close when they need or feel like (Aka bad rain, they're going to close early). Alot of the old folks know each other very well, my Uncle was known and was very liked, reguaedless of the amount of timed he'd end up in jail for the night. Old Bikers also are the nicest people you'll meet. But please be careful, It gets VERY hot and VERY crouded on the weekends, rain is avoidable and holidays is just asking for long waits. Its been very hot here in St. Aug, about 100 so Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate! Be mindful of the people around you too! If someone looks like they need help, please help them. When it gets crowded its very easy to loose party members so keep an eye on everyone and be alert! Travel the back roades and side streets! there are plenty of bars, shops and restaurants hiding in plain sight! Also bring cash as some shops will only take money as, like I said, they're mom and pop shops so tec isn't really their thing. Be concideraite for the people around you and if you want to come here on a holiday or special event, I HIGHLY recommend against that if you have party members who get anxious easily (children and pets). It gets very packed down town, so find a place not down toewn where you can enjoy these shows (4th of JUly, NIghts of lights). I recommend being on Anastasia Island, you see it from a distance but you will see more of downtown lit up than if you where front and center. Take breaks, look at shops before buying then come back (we love impulse buyers but vacation isn't fun if you spend all your money in one store). Stop by the Shop across the way Earthbound for snacks and drinks! You will want to have a snack and you will need that drink! Last note, if you are going anywhere in St. Aug, either it be down town or at the beach: PICK. UP. YOUR. TRASH. It's turtle egg season and there are aliot of birds out here eating cigorette butts on the beach so please, any trash you come with, leave with! A quarter of a mile walk should not have 2 pounds of trash scattered on the beach. It's not safe for anyone. Have fun, be safe, and plan ahead!

I'm hoping to move out of the state entirely. It's too hot and there are just too many people. I've been here bout 8 years of my life and have slowly grown to hate the "new" St. Aug. Hopping to move up to Ashville NC, another town just like St. Aug but nesseled in the Mountains and very much less peoply.

Those shopkeepers pay a really high rent and work long, hard hours, then have to deal with bums laying on the walkway right in front of their stores. All because "They have rights too." Keep letting that happen, St. Augustine, and you'll wind up needing a "Crap App" like in San Francisco, where the bums can crap on any street and people use the CrapApp to report it and city workers are dispatched to clean it up.

The appropriate thing would be to call it San Agustín, which is the name with which it was founded. Not St. Augustine. With the same logic that the castle is called San Marcos, not St. Mark. That is the point.
