oh this made me feel so unwell in all of the ways im sure it was meant to. the cabbages on ‘spoilt little kid’….. inspired and agonising in equal measure. i also really love how you played around with anthy and utena as foils to touga, anthy’s glasses and touga’s opera glasses was an interesting one!! there’s this really unsettling uncanny delicacy, almost, to so much of this animatic and i feel that so perfectly captures the overall tone of the butterfly bride - knowing, to some extent, how ohtori operates and continuing within it all the same. yeah wow i just really loved this, a great tribute to the fic and some absolutely jaw-dropping mind-boggling traditional artwork that has me in awe. thank you so so much for this

@@ilikecows402 I am in no way trying to say that he and Anthy are the same person. Nor am I trying to say that they are equally worthy of forgiveness. You'll notice this animatic is not at all about how Touga treats Nanami. I do however think that Touga was groomed by Akio. This animatic was inspired by a very specific fic that I feel does a good job balancing Touga in the anime with Touga in the movie, and the fic is about Touga taking up the mantle of Rose Bride after Anthy leaves. I recommend giving it a read if you're interested in a more in-depth and complex exploration of why one could draw parallels between Touga and Anthy. It's linked in the description. It does in fact tackle how Touga hurt those around him, I just didn't want to make 20 more watercolors to explain it visually, nor did I think it a productive endeavor when the fic already exists. (Also I think that "character x shouldn't have parallels drawn with character y because character x is a good person and y is a bad one" is a very limiting take. Once again, I'm not asking you to forgive anyone.) Thanks for liking my art though! And I do understand where you're coming from. Touga is objectively a shitbag, but I do think him an interesting one
