Great presentation. I stumbled across your channel while looking up info on the St Brice Day Massacre. I recently received the results of my DNA deep dive analysis and came up as a 99% match to one of the Dane victims found in Oxford. Pretty cool!

MyTrueAncestry I'm assuming? The percentage on there is just how closely related you are compared to other users on the site. I used to have 2 or 3 high 90th percentile matches for the Gladiators of York samples (it's not actually known if they were truly gladiators) but have been knocked down to around the mid 80's on most now. I'm still in the low 90's for 3 of the St. Brice samples though.

A recent video I watched said that Scandinavians were living in the same towns as Saxons and two skeletons from 'lowly' women from Sweden may have been working as home help. Job opportunities. Scandinavian jewellers in York with no examples of their work, because everything was sold and reused.

i had read some historians now believe the attacks against the Viking population by native folks was more a popular matter of ethnic cleansing than a government policy. the people had just had enough of Viking attacks and sought to exterminate Viking enclaves. this kind of thing has happened down the ages. i doubt the St. Brice's Day Massacre was the only time this happened. given the repeated aggression by the Vikings/Norse it be odd if the victims of the centuries of attacks didn't want to exterminate all the invaders
@kamronspencer4910
@kamronspencer4910 2 жыл бұрын
Except the people killed in this massacre were not invaders. They were lawful residents who had moved to England legally long ago and most who died were English speaking, Christian, and had spent their whole lives in England.

@@kamronspencer4910 you may be right about the victims but England was still being subject to Viking attacks and the folks who were killed were related to those attacking the native population. we have seen this ethnic hatred emerge down the years in Bosnia, Rwanda and Myanmar. the Muslim Uyghurs who have lived for ages in China are now being attacked by thee PRC regime

Were the Danish women and children also slaughtered? It sounds as if the English just pounced on a peaceful Danish settlement and then killed the Danes who put up little resistance because they were not expecting to be attacked.

This masakra, on defenseless Danes in England. Men, Women and Children slaughtered by England's Proud Warriors. Have they always kept hidden in their history books. And strangely enough, Denmark has too. Twice, England has committed mass murder of Danish civilians. The second time was in 1807 when the English fleet stole the Danish fleet. And killed about 2000 civilian men, women and children. Presumably both times with the blessing of the English Royal Family. And they have escaped from it without the world knowing the truth. England has always feared the Danes. And never won a War against us. Only a few blows on the battlefield. We also Conquered England, Since our Vikings from Normandy. Defeated the English army in 1066. They have always been beaten by the Danes, on the battlefield. The Poor .. Can only beat our Peasants, women and children ... Føj for satan.

Post union it was called the British royal family, in 1807 that would have been the Hanoverian kings so blame it on the Germans. And do you know where the Jutes came from? Well?? And at this point Rollo isn't known to be either danish or norwegian, one or the other but no one is sure. Ultimately what I am getting at is the english, the scottish, the sachsens(german wing), the neiderlanders, the swedes, the danish, the norwegians, the frisians etc et al were all the same people. Some set out earlier than others, some went east vs west. Plus you fail to mention the destruction sown by the great heathen host.

@@CaptainLongDongsilver : ) Well well well, mister Tudor. Germany was in WW2 the strongest country in the world. And Denmark was both the smallest and the weakest country Germany conquered in the war. But that does not change the fact that England. Has been occupied for hundreds of years. Of foreign nations. Of both Rome, Denmark and France. William the Conqueror is, as you know, the great-grandson of Rollo. Viking warrior from Scandinavia. And it was pretty much just fighters from Normandy. In other words, Scandinavian Viking sons who were the main force. After all, you can't even compare, the world's strongest nation, in WW2 Germany. Against one of the world's weakest nations. Denmark only lost the battle in 1066 because we were half as many. And was largely without proper equipment. England has more or less been created from sperm from Danish, French and Italian warriors. And if we take the sperm of the Celts with us. Who were the first to conquer England. So I actually don't think there were many "real Englishmen" at all in England, during the Second World War. But mainly England's military consisted and still consists then and today. Only of Scandinavian and French great-grandchildren, from middle age. We are England. ; ))
