St. Mary Campground, tour and review

Continuing my visit to Glacier National Park I spend two days camping at St. Mary Campground. Using it as a base camp for the many day hikes I did on the Eastern side of the park. While here I thought that I would give you a tour and review the campground.

Hey! I have a reservation coming up here.. if I have an annual pass, do I need to get a vehicle registration as well to enter??

As far as I know, if you have a reservation you shouldn’t need a pass. Though I would check with the NPS just to be sure. Things are always changing.

@soccweandlax1 if you mean annual pass to the national parks then you would still need a vehicle registration pass. The annual pass is jut the fee you pay to access the national park. It's completely different from the vehicle pass required. I hope that makes sense. This stuff can get confusing.

This is incorrect. First, no vehicle passes are required when entering the Sun Road from the east side. Second, if you have proof of a reservation anywhere along the Sun Road corridor (campground or hotel), you do not need a vehicle pass. But you do have to have an annual pass, or pay the entry fee.

Yes, as far as I know if it want to go pass the Apgar checkpoint to reach the west side of thr Sun road you will need a vehicle pass. But if you have a reservation for St. Mary camp then you can drive the road without the vehicle pass.

No showers here. Showers at Rising Sun CG just up the road.
