A short tour round St Peter's churchyard including some info about 3 local pit disasters and a look at some of the gravestones. As usual I am still getting to grips with my filming skills so waffle comes as standard

Thank you for the video. Lots of history. My uncle Robbie Brayen was a member of this church and I attended WGS across the street. Moved to Canada in 1964 so seeing these videos brings back great memories.

Great to see this. I've never seen the grounds themselves. Just remember going in the church for certain services while I was at St Peters School for 2 or 3 years until I left on my 11th birthday 1964. Susan Kerridge

Never new there was 2 pit disasters 😢. Thank you for the history lesson. Was born and bred in howden. Till I moved to rural Northumberland

sadly we had more than 2 but two were pretty big ones. Many of the victims of those and other smaller disasters are buried in the church yard grounds
