10 years later St. Vincent and Strange Mercy remain criminally underrated.

Symbolism for an abused house wife. The father instigates it and gets the children to play along.

i love her....even though she comes off as being pure and simple, her lyrics are deep and expose a lot of pain and misfortune. listen to "strange mercy"

After watching this video, I realize I've taken my own mom for granted sometimes. I should show more appreciation for all the things she does. Thank you mom!

I love how she falls about the most culturally relevant/hidden societal issues with such happy instrumentals. St. Vincent is a phenomenal musician.

Magnificent visual representation of social roles expected by environment/society, very creative!

it makes perfect sence, she talking about responsibilities forced apon you that you dont want and its like when you have a family and your a stay at home mom its like they kidnap you and make you do what they want of you, no one gets metaphors anymore

Her song writing has always been seamless, its just the style of music that's been changing over time.

This is the third video that I've seen of hers and I have to say that she really has a certain creative aesthetic that is truly all her own. You go girl!
@kellymccuin574310 жыл бұрын
Saying you want someone to go back to the way you liked them is like going over to your best friend's house and saying, "why the hell would you choose THAT paint for the wall? I can't even talk to you anymore until you paint it a color I like." Maybe just accept that she has a different style now and listen to someone else if you hate it so much.

This song's hook popped to mind this morning, I just started randomly singing it hahaha and I came to listen and started googling what you were up to, not realizing it's your birthday today. Awwww, HAPPY, HAPPY BiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiRTHDaaaaaaaaY Dearest St. Vincent, thank you for being born, creating great music, and inspiring me to do the same whilst supporting talents like yourself who deserve to be on more stages sharing your gift!!! Loooooooooooooove youuuuuuuuu. [Cruel-uel-uellllllllllllllllllllllll oh ohhhhhhhhh.] #SoMellifluous!!!!

+Matthew O'Brien Because the guitar in almost all of the songs is annoying. This is the only one that's tolerable. I tried to like her music but the songs don't even sound like they have a melody because all you can hear is overly-distorted guitar. It's like nails on a chalkboard. If she'd tone down the distortion (not remove it) I think a lot more people would like her.

That movie from the early 80s wasn't too bad, IMHO, but I first saw it maybe in 2003 - 2006; well past all the critics with Star Wars on the mind had given their word on it. I went in with no expectations, and enjoyed it for what it is.
