'St Vincent Faces Humanitarian Crisis After La Soufrière Volcano Eruption'
The island of St Vincent is facing a humanitarian crisis after a major volcano eruption.
Officials have warned that safe water reserves are at risk as heavy ash contaminates supplies.
Falling ash and volcanic flows have destroyed crops and contaminated water reservoirs.
Hundreds of millions of dollars are reportedly needed to recover from the eruption of La Soufrière.
More than 16,000 people have been evacuated from the island’s northern region, where the volcano is located.
No casualties have been reported since the first eruption of the volcano early Friday.
Volcanologists say activity on the Caribbean island could continue for weeks.

@@peterchase5198 It is reported on multiple platforms that St Vincent pm, Ralph Gonsalves, stated that only those who have been vaccinated against Covid-19 will be allowed on board the ships taking refugees to surrounding islands. He said: “The chief medical officer will be identifying the persons already vaccinated so that we can get them on the ship.” I can't detect any "nonsense" there, unless you're saying he never said that or that somehow this has been taken our of context and that the words "only the vaccinated" don't mean what the words say.

Or perhaps you mean that this isn't important compared to the volcano situation so shouldn't be reported. Don't believe all you hear on social media, or MSM. There are "rumours" about requiring vaccine to evacuate, but nothing confirmed. It would make sense that boarding evacuees should have PCR test, and if positive then they would need to be isolated on board and NOT REFUSED evacuation. That's down to St. Vincent government reaching agreememt with cruise ship operator and the captain of the vessel in question. As far as I have seen, none of these things have been confirmed. Speculation and rumours are only adding to feeling of desperation for a people that are in urgent need of help and assurances.
