Loved to see Annie running wild with her long mane in the wind! 🤩 She’s is getting big and filling up and she’s built so much assurance in the past 6 months, wow! 👍 Loved Roni’s and Lena’s synchronized cruising! 💕😌 Agree: so interesting to watch horse socialization. 🔎 Thank you for sharing another interesting video!

We're glad you're back Graeme! The wound looks like it's healed amazingly. Hope it feels better too. Plus the fact that you can go back near horses after such physical trauma is a testament to how your knowledge and experience around these beasts gives ya confidence around 'em. I remember screwing up my knee after a skateboard incident and not touching the board for a good few years. Man, I've said it before, but Gracie is just the embodiment of an Arabian horse! At 3:26 she strolls up with the _expectation_ of getting a scratch. Like "yes, the face-scratcher has come to scritch my beautiful face. I will give you the honor of petting it". And at 14:04, you might have a pair of show-horses there. Itty bitty smol Annie and big ol' Luke, mastering the art of synchronizing.

OH MY GOODNESS, WHAT A GORGEOUS MORNING 🌄. I LOVE IT!! Anyway, isn't it funny how some horses manes get way more tangled than others? I wonder 🤔 why If you have a REAL tangled mess....WD Forty works miracles, plus it gives it one heck of a shine.....until they roll. Okay, gotta run, have a very busy day as well, going to see Elton John concert tonight 😀. Enjoy your beautiful day and amazing 4 legged kids 😉 Blessings my friend 🙌 Jennifer
@StableHorseTraining2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jennifer. WD40 is pretty stinky stuff and highly flammable and poisonous so I'm going to stay away from that option I think. If you're looking for an oil that works well that is much safer though, I can recommend just basic mineral oil, which is also termed as baby oil. Same sheen and effectiveness without the flammability, poison and smell :)
@mikehenry62842 жыл бұрын
Ya know what Graeme, I don't know what I was thinking when I suggested WD-40 to you. I wasn't thinking clearly I guess 🥴. I think I texted you about really late. I am aware of those things.....we just used it in a pinch, and very seldom. My profound apologies friend, should have just kept my mouth shut 🤐. Please scratch that one up as a woopsie. Don't misunderstand me, we didn't drench the mane, we just put a little on our fingers to work out a tangle and it was usually at a horse show. Everyone had a can in their trailer. Again, so sorry my friend for some bad advice. Have a great day 😀 Blessings always 🙌 Jennifer
@StableHorseTraining2 жыл бұрын
Don't worry about it at all. Obviously nobody uses it in quantities that can do harm, all good.
@StableHorseTraining2 жыл бұрын
Actually, as an FYI, wd40 is made mostly from mineral oil! It's the rest of the items that turn it a bit off for me.

You must get up before the sun at this time of year. It was a gorgeous morning. Gracie needs an "ears" button. hehe It's interesting to see how the friendships change among the horses. Annie was in with Roni for a while but now she's by herself again and they don't hang out much in the arena. Luke and Meatball played as though they were going to be good friends when they first met but now they barely go near each other. Old Meatball sure looks good compared to when you first got him. He has a neck now. Annie's mane is amazingly long and thick. It's like a Friesian's which can get long enough to touch the ground when their head is up. It must be the carrots. 🥕😁

Ok a few things, hopefully I can remember them all. So every time you mention that a friend is coming to visit I hope with all my heart that it will be Little Miss hehe Also, it's a bummer that Lena is not fond of Annie. I wonder if she feels threatened or if it is something as simple as just not like her or her personality. It's also interesting that Roni took charge & protected Annie even though Lena was there. I've noticed in videos, that once Lena is present & Roni is just all about Lena. Are Annie & Joka still good buddies?

Do you ever give your buddies those big blue balls to play with? Just curious how they would react. Love watching them play.
@MaureenYost2 жыл бұрын
I couldn't believe it the first time I saw a horse playing with one of those balls. I come from a time when we were terrified to put anything in with our horses for fear they would freak out. Now, I see horses playing with the big exercise balls and horsey kettle balls. One of the funniest videos I've seen was of two colts playing with a kettle ball. One was playing with it. When he put it down to look around for a moment, the other colt snuck up from behind and grabbed it. He then ran away with it in his mouth with the other colt in hot pursuit. Too funny.

I have a question that probably everyone knows the answer to. I find it interesting that the boys are attracted to the girls even after being gelded. That means testosterone isn’t the only factor in attraction I would guess. Or maybe the levels don’t plummet significantly. I haven’t looked up the answer cause I feel lazy today lol. . Is the attraction of Roni toward Lena, for example, just the result of Lena’s temperament? I doubt it, cause he hangs around with other ladies when they come to visit but plays with the boys. So even the interaction of boys with boys and boys with girls are completely different.
@MaureenYost2 жыл бұрын
I watch a Friesian breeding farm from the Netherlands. They separate the colts from the fillies when they're weaned because the colts play so much rougher than the fillies. They rear up and walk into each other wrapping their front legs around each others' shoulders, then play bite each other on the face and neck. They get down on their knees to bite each other's legs. The fillies don't play this way, at all, and don't like it. There's a video of Luke and Mr. Wilde meeting for the first time and they play similarly to the colts. It's so much fun to watch.
@StableHorseTraining2 жыл бұрын
If anybody knows the answer to your questions Kathy, I'd want to hear them. I expect the testosterone is lower but definitely not gone. I think they are bonded well due to length of time together for the most part. I don't know if it's a female/male thing and I'm not sure how to determine that either.
@kkdoc78642 жыл бұрын
@@MaureenYost I follow the Friesian KZbin channel at Stal G which is also a breeding site in the Netherlands cause they are so beautiful. (Yvonne the owner recently suffered a severe head injury but is slowly recovering.). So, yes, I watch how intact males are kept from the ladies, but my question was about boys that have been gelded. Interactions are still the same. It seems the boys like to still hang with females and defend them from others’ intrusions, whereas their interactions with the other boys are so different. Ie what is driving that behavior, since testosterone levels are lowered.
@MaureenYost2 жыл бұрын
@@kkdoc7864Oh, I thought you might not have watched any youngsters. (I was describing Rising Star and Rinse Janko playing. I watch Yvonne, too. 😁She made me love Friesians.) My gelding didn't appear to respond this way although he did like to escape to go visit his favourite friend who was a mare. He fought with another mare so we couldn't put them together. I never considered your question at the time but now it makes me wonder; "Is it residual hormones or a memory of how they played before they were gelded". I'll have to search out some research on the subject. Good question, kk doc.
