I love this episode. It's amazing that with a little thinking and careful and strategic planning you can turn an already useful tool into an even more useful tool.

I personally wouldn't do aluminium.... Only reason is cause that makes it a single use rig. If you do steel, you can multi-purpose that trailer, such as hauling a skid loader, move a load of hay, use it for transporting something that could destroy your deck... With a steel frame lumber deck you can always replace deck boards... Just sayin. Pretty trailer, but I'd go steel.

Damn I had to rewind the video three times to rewatch parts of that segment about the iron worker, because I kept uncontrollably daydreaming about what I could do with it. I need that iron worker and all the accessories in my life.

I just run a wire from the 12volt + on the seven pin connector to the battery. Charges while your pulling, just like the electric brake battery
@zarkeh30135 жыл бұрын
a bigger solar panel might even back charge the tow's battery ... edit: hmmm... go lithium for battery and charge controller and ditch the genset for an invertor! then another spool for electric just like the air spool! *BAM* 2019 update!

I put the on board air and a power I verter on my truck, now I Don't need the trailer for a "roadside rescue". The winch is on a receiver system so I can be moved to the vehicle or on the trailer. Works great (anderson connector on the front and back of the truck for the winch, also have jumper cables that plug into the anderson connectors.

Thats my goal! I don't have the anderson plugs yet though

Neat idea but I prefer on board air on my truck and my winch is set up on a receiver because well some time you can't get the trailer to the junk

good point. i set my trailer up with a reciever in the nose to move my winch from truck to trailer

How exactly will ramps help you change a tire?
@gdavis85886 күн бұрын
They will help on a tandem axle trailer. Drive the good tire up on the ramp and it will also raise the flat tire.

Looks like the Gearz gang had some licensing free up lately on some of the more mundane episodes. Lemme sum this one up for ya: 1. Stacey walks out into the garage and says some shit about how us gear-heads are always dragging old cars home, and suggests that hoarders like me can build a trailer easily enough. 2. That's all good, but Stacey has money to burn so -- a top-of-the-line 16-foot aluminum car hauler magically appears! Learn anything yet? No worries, there's more! 3. Next, Stacey busts out someone else's credit card and accessorizes the living hell outtuv the new trailer, how inspiring! 4. Now that you're all jazzed about Stacey's expensive new toy, he will tell you about all his other sponsors and the aftermarket accessories you can buy for your projects, yay! I think I'll head out into the garage and start fabricating a new credit card for myself. Thanks Stacey!

Least these videos are not 5 minutes or less long and mostly advertising. But lots sponsors names are mentioned. He seems to goes fast doing these projects and you don't see many steps. yea I got room for all these tools. The money for 40"wide tires. Miss Power Block TV days.

This is what car shows used to be. This was 100% exactly what every episode of every car show was when I was growing up. Every now and then something hits and sticks, like the tip about a solar charger. This episode originally aired when I was working as a summer mechanic while in school and one of the machines I was responsible for always had a dead battery, despite having a kill switch on it. I bought a small solar panel (tho bigger than the one he showed) and that machine always had a hot battery after that. Only issue is that we'd have to clean the panel from time to time and it didn't like snow. Now that shows like Roadkill are out there, it's hard to watch this, but the nostalgia has me bingeing a little. I still have no where near the budget of even Stacey's cheapest project and not even a 1 car garage to work in, but sometimes it's fun to dream a little.
@originaldylanbaxter6 жыл бұрын
@@PlatypusVomit So true. I also watched Gearz as a rascal but have clearly been spoiled by this new golden age of car shows. To be fair, I'll bet every episode of Gearz does contain at least one tip that's a keeper and I have Stacey and crew to thank for their inspiration during my formative years as well...

It is nice to start with a $15k trailer and add another $3.5k to have a trailer to tow cars and trucks only. The other option is to rent for a few hundred dollars and use the left over cash for projects.
