I picked up a black single cab 8 speed ram Express 2wd with full k&n intake it has over 400 horsepower it's an absolute beast! It governs too quickly at 105 and the fun is over.

I have an 05 single cab short bed 1500 SLT with factory 3.92 gears. still runs good. about 85,000 miles. I love it. I bought it new, it was about $26,700 on sale.

I remember watching this on Speed years ago and I can remember my Dad really wanting an Express. As time went on, I did too. I bought my first new vehicle last month (I had been dailying a 1989 Dodge W250 since I graduated high school in 2017 and after a driveline rebuild last year and 6 total years and 35k miles of commuting at 9 mpg, I needed an upgrade) using the same philosophy of the Express- Hemi muscle truck for cheap- and bought a 2022 Ram 1500 Classic Tradesman. Though I paid almost twice what a 2011 Express was, it had the Hemi, 4 doors, 3.92 limited slip, 4wd, and the ability to tow home my many Mopar projects while still being REALLY fast

@@OfficialStaceyDavid and efficient! My W250 gets 9 mpg with a rebuilt low compression 360 (with stock throttle body fuel injection), a 727 auto, and 4.10s. Screams down the road at 65. The 1500 with 3.92 limited slip gets between 15 and 18 mpg (still too early to know, usually gets about 15 with my commute and creeps higher if I drive out farther) and even in 8th at barely above idle rpm, I can mash it, transmission downshifts a few times, and it pounces like a panther and easily overtakes the Prius or Nissan Versa in the left lane

I went in to order my son a single cab short bed ram only to be told they will no longer be made. The only way to get a 2023 Ram classic single cab is in a long bed.

It's strange that Ram was pretty much the only company promoting (or maybe building at all) single cab short bed trucks for a long time, but now they're not and Ford and Chevy are again. And they are, well, they're not cheap.

The manufacturers don't even make work trucks anymore why would they strip down a car? In 2006 I was able to get a brand new truck with V8, 4x4 and extended cab and that was it. Crank windows, vinyl floors, a true work truck. And it has 225,000 hard miles of hauling, towing and working everyday. And honestly other than wheel bearings, brakes and tires the only thing I had to change was the alternator and A brake line and she still starts up everyday, though living in Maine between working by the ocean everyday and calcium on the roads in the winter the body has started to rust basically everywhere but the hood and roof and looking for a new truck today finding a new 3/4 ton truck under $60,000 is a job in itself. I don't need heated and ac seats , heated mirrors and everything else to break in 5 years , not to mention transmissions that don't last past 70,000 miles or a fricken 4 cyl in a full size truck 🤮. Can't even order a truck with vinyl floors anymore. They make trucks for the weekend warriors pulling thier rv or 30ft boat instead of the working man.

cheapest you can get a new ram for with a v8 is $43k. That's on the website. They aren't even producing them. You cant even a single cab anymore. went on a lot and the cheapest they had was over $60k. RAM forgot these cheap trucks are what made them a true competitor.
