My wife can definitely do a better job, but I like to contribute as much as possible to the household and she works so damn hard for us, that anything she asks I do without question to the best of my ability. It is not about equality it is paying honour for sacrifices she makes for our whole family, a mans job in my opinion is to take the weight on his shoulders and never moan about it, if you never get thanked it doesn't matter - you fulfill those duties day in day out. That is the sacrifice, and that lends you nobility.

I recommend a 3x3 every three feet in those tall stacks. Then you can separate the pile with your forks and get to what you want when you want it. Also you can stack it on the ground and put it up on the pile with the forks, now screaming at each other with lumber over your head.....

@@realairplane261 I learned that lesson about a year ago being a newbie sawyer after re-stacking just to get some desired lumber at the bottom of a stack. The separation height between stacks depends on the lifting capacity of the fork lift of course. I can't go three feet with my small tractor but he has a beast of a tractor so he can probably go pretty tall, but not 6' for sure.

You are 100 percent correct about the importance of correct stickering. I have been cutting, milling, and stacking lumber for decades and if you don't sticker correctly you are looking at disappointing results . Always start about 1 or 2 inches from the ends and space evenly. Keep it dry. Patience.

Back years ago at work, when training a new employee, I would tell them that this way of doing this is not 'my' way of doing it. It is the best way of doing this by multiple people over multiple years, it's been done many different ways over many years and this way has proven to be the best way, so please do it this way. As has been proven throught time, reading and studying is just the basics of learning. Hands on experience over time is where knowledge achieves perfection. So Mike is correct in saying there is a right way and a wrong way. This acquired knowledge is obtained through experience. So if one belittles another over this acquired knowledge, then this person isn't thinking. Like where the best place to store utensils in a kitchen would be obvious by the person who works in the kitchen using the utensils and should be adhered to by those just visiting. Knowledge is the beginning, skill is the result of much experience. The 4Patriots ads for your channel were goog Mike, so was this video, sure gave me a big smile! Thanks so much for the time and effort you put in so we can enjoy the start of our day. You're the man!👍🚜❤

Phil here from NE Indiana. I thought Mike was going to mill some 8/4 cherry boards. I wanted to see him stack one of those over his head. That would have been a work out, at least for me it would of. My wife will borrow a tool from my shop and for the life of her she can not remember exactly where she got it from so she just puts it anywhere. After a few (heated) discussions she now just put the tools on the bench so I can put it away. But I'm just as bad putting pots and pans away. I let her do that now. Not the best plan but it works for us.

Stick stacking lumber to facilitate drying is crucial! Use only kiln-dried stickers. Keep your stickers perfectly lined up vertically. Put your stacks where they will get the best continuous breeze through them. Facilitate air-flow the best you can. Keep the stack covered, but don't interrupt air-flow. Keep weight on the top. Seal the ends. Keep a consistent distance between stickers (12", 18") Keep the pile straight on both edges and keep room between the boards on each level.
