STACYC 16eDRIVE BRUSHLESS STILL NOT FIXED?! | I guess it wasn't the gearbox...

As the thumbnail says: "this is getting old", because after a warranty replacement 90 degree machined gearbox was sent to me and installed, the same problem still exists. This tells me it's most likely the brushless motor, and I sure hope that's warrantied too, cause if it's not, this is one very, VERY expensive push bike! Let's hope the next video is good news and the bike is back to making my boy happy again. C'mon Stacyc, you guys gotta get this right on an $800+ bike!

Thank you we are having the same issue. I sent an email to stacyc support with your video. If they don’t replace our motor I’ll be doing review video as well. Not happy and disappointed. I think it’s the bearing in the motor but pulling the pinion on motor is a pain to do and that has to be done before you can open the motor and replace the internal bearing.

Sounds like the 90 degree gearbox, I've seen two go bad, one the input side & one on the out put side. They made the end shafts on both gears to small and both snapped there!

Just bought one for my sons birthday same deal, being impatient I dug into myself. Long story short the two bolts holding the motor were only. Quarter way in, tightened them up good to go. I think when the bike with a load torqued the motor so much that it was slipping? Hopefully this helps or they fixed it for you!

Oh wow, that’s a bad oversight from the factory! My bolts were all tight, however

Went with an Orion rxb-e after hearing the issues with these. Hope the Orion holds up better.

I have the same problem with my 16 drive brushless, checked chain tension and sprocket, it’s good so I thought for sure it was gearbox but you switched your out and it didn’t fix it! Did you ever fix it and find the problem?

Sounds like the gears are rubbing on something plastic... kind of like the cards in the spokes when I was a kid...

I wish it were that easy, but you can hear the struggle of the motor too. The sound is emits is cringeworthy and even my boy is soured by the sound, not even wanting to ride it. Huge disappointments all-around

They sent me the other gearbox under warranty (yes, there’s two) and after changing it, it seemed to fix the issue. I’ll do an update video soon and have the second gearbox video scheduled to upload

Yeah, both gearboxes (there’s two) ended up stripping out and needed replaced. They’re definitely a weak link in these bikes 😞

He’s been on a PW50 since 3 1/2, also has a CRF50, and has a Cobra JR in case he wanted to go serious racing. The Stacyc was meant to be a toy that he could pick up and ride without full gear and the parental supervision like the real bikes need. He loves it too, just really disappointed that it’s terribly unreliable

Maybe rather than changing the oil, you just have to change-out the drivetrain in the Stacyc every 2 to 3 months. LOL Talk about "break-in" period! Don't think that's what you had in mind!

I would say this one lasted a little over a month. The heavier the kids get and more aggressive they ride the faster they’ll break. Two sure things that will happen as kids grow. I think Stacyc needs to go back to the drawing board on this one 😕

@@John5XR Yeah. If the issue is the motor powered when landing a jump and the change in torque like they said, for $800 they could put a swing-arm on there with a tight spring. Put a micro switch on the swing arm so that when it’s fully extended, either by too small of a rider (safety feature?) or when going off jumps, the motor cuts-out. By the time you land, with no engine breaking, you wouldn’t even notice the cut-out and maybe that would cut down on the torque. My girls Apollo 70cc Honda clone was $200 less brand new and I rip hard on that bike. But, it also sounds like an angry lawnmower who’s muffler fell off. Lol Not a good “in town” bike. 🥴

Lol, yeah I paid $400 for his PW50 (like 4 years ago though). For twice the cost, the Stacyc should work better than it does.

Very annoying, I think it’s just faulting as the battery goes dead, not a real error
