I really like the rolling tool box idea, but as a M&E engineer don’t have a lot of the carpentry style of tools which traditionally just get dumped into the base unit large box. I didn’t realise the new inserts could be stacked and put all the way into the bottom of the base box and utilise all the space with tools that I would use. I learned so much watching this, and as I was agonising over the TSTAK, Tough 2.0, or even maybe the new Klein ModBox, I now feel the Tough 2.0 is the direction I want to go in. This was super helpful because I like lots of the other 2.0 boxes, but the base box was bothering me as I didn’t feel I could use it for my type of tools. Now I know different, thanks 👍 👍 👍 EDIT Bought the Toughsystem 2.0 yesterday, trays weren’t in stock but will be in tomorrow 👍

I have been very pleased with the first generation version...has damn near replaced my crossover truck box as this system allows me to practically take my whole tool selection into my job. As a general remodeler with multiple trade skills it’s important to have all my tools within reach...no countless trips to my truck. Glad to see more trays organization options and hoping they fit in first generation boxes.

I'm just wondering if this would work for me. First off, all that foam cushioning would need to get ditched, because I got too much stuff that I need to put in these boxes. Secondly, Whats the weight carrying capacity and what about the wheels holding up with 250 pounds in the box on rough terrain or rolling up and down stairs? These are all valid questions. I remodel kitchens and Baths and I use a lot of tools, I'll let you real world carpenters be the guinea pigs, I'm not willing to spend $200 on a system if the wheels are gonna fall off and the latches are gonna break. Any feedback?
@tr1llwill
@tr1llwill 5 жыл бұрын
You could literally spend hours watching all the reviews that answer every single one of your questions in the hundreds of different videos out there for the 1.0 system. The 1.0 rolling cart holds up fine on most surfaces. As for stairs it will feel just like it looks, small wheels so you'll be pulling most of the weight up yourself. If that's not enough or you're on really rough/uneven surfaces they make a heavier duty dolly like cart that you can attach all the different boxes to. It adds a heavier steel frame you can lock the boxes to and bigger wheels that make going over rougher surfaces much easier.

im thinking no, unfortunately. The 2.0 boxes are deeper (front to back) so the trays will be to big for the 1.0 boxes. They say that the 2.0 is compatible with 1.0 but I think they are referring to them being stacked together as a tower. Im happy but bummed at same time I am pretty heavily invested in the 1.0 boxes and the 2.0 is looking sooooooo much better. The trays look like a perfect solution for my needs and those new side latches are killer. interested to see what the price point is though.

I don't understand why they don't have an adapter plate to combine Tstak onto Toughsystem. The Tstak has a "2.0" also that doesn't get mentioned. (It's practically versastak in yellow.) They showcase the clipboard thing that works with Tstak and Tstak radio. It's strange why they even bother. If they would just make that plate, a whole world of potential opens up.

Kind of cool how you can remove the handel on the bottom box. Now people who dont have a truck bed or large van can still transport it in their vehicles. And thank god for the new latches. I had one fall off the same day I bought it....I'm not a fan of the trays though. It is not something I would use and im sure they will try to use this feature to justify a rediculous price. At 2:10 that promise of being offered with lids NEVER happened as well all know now in 2023. No foam insert panels to be found from DeWALT unless you buy their socket set. I really like DeWALT stuff but their socket sets,... not so much. That 2.0 Radio/Bluetooth with the touch screen, and Flexvolt charging NEVER HAPPENED as of February 2023. And the BIGGEST design fail on the 2.0 was the rolling base's lid shedding all the water on the lid INTO the cabinet because of the rear flared lip. Ooof! Would I buy the DeWALT TOUGHSYSTEM 2.0 with all these issues?! ABSOLUTELY HELL YEAH I WOULD!!! I have already sunk well over a grand on the 2.0 series and not even close to getting all my tools squared away. That was DeWALT's purely evil genius move right there. They got me good! 😅

It baffles me how inefficient people are with the space in these boxes. 2 drills and a charger in 1 shallow bin is embarrassing! Every demo I’ve seen for Dewalt and Milwaukee tool bins has been organization at the near complete cost of efficiency. I have 2 drills, 1 angle impact, 1 jigsaw and a multi cutter with 3 batteries and 30-40 bits and blades for them in 1 shallow screw bin. I’d rather have all that lose in a nylon bag then need 3-4 bins.

Not all plastics are created equal. High quality plastic is damn tough.

@@TheBostonstapler You've obviously never touched one so why don't you go to a store and see for yourself. The gen1 clips did have some trouble out of the gate but they quickly added a metal pin into them (and would send out replacements for people who had OG versions) and you've got 'chinsy plastic tabs' that are holding hundreds of pounds of tools securely. So you're pretty off base with your comments.

@@tr1llwill no , ive just had bad experience with dewalt plastic tool boxes , tough system included. For your information, they do work great the toughsystem, i have about 10 boxes. But they do not get used a lot. The few that i did use normally chipped and got puncture too easily in my opinion.

I use all dewalt tools even the big planer , but the early tough system is a piece of crap . Closing latches fall off I want my money back.

Muy lejos de las milwaukee packout,no me gustó para nada el toughsystem 1 y 2.0🖓 tendrían que empezar de cero con otra mejor idea.

Won’t buy any system till they come out with a contractor grade drawer setup. First one that does wins.

Dewalt has one. It's from the first gen line but is the 2nd gen drawers if that makes sense. The OG drawers were trash and they quickly replaced that version with one that has metal drawer sliders and waterproof seals around the drawer face. The drawers along with the tote w/ the metal handle are my favorite from the 1st gen toughsystem. Once they upgraded they drawers you could put a good amount of tools/items in them without the drawer sagging/not closing etc.. They slide open like a kitchen drawer smooth and easy and make getting tools quickly very easy even when stacked on top of each other.

This did not age well. The 2.0 system was a big downgrade all around.

Too much time has passed for DeWalt to figure out a way to make something better than Milwaukee's packout. Unbelievable how they don't foresee that people would be super annoyed with those chinsy plastic tabs and latches. When you take a look at packout it looks muuuuuch more durable and intuitive to use.

said like someone who doesn't use or own the system at all. DeWalt hit the market first with the toughsystem and packout came after. They've continually made small adjustments to the gen 1 system as they've gotten feedback from customers. Both systems are great and whichever you get you'll be happy with. Of course there are comments and reviews out there that read like " Wasn't able to throw it off 30ft roof w/o it breaking small tab off so it's complete garbage!!" but anyone who uses them to keep their tools and work vehicle/shop clean knows that. Milwaukee still doesn't have a shop/vehicle rack either which makes transferring the DeWalt system to a vehicle super easy and keeps your van clean.
