I am a 42 yr old single mother of 3 wonderful children, who is so proud to say that I am a 2 time Cancer survivor!!!!! I beat Stage 3b Breast cancer at the age of 36 and am now on my way to beating Stage 4 Metastatic Mediastinal Melanoma, no skin involvement. Last year at this time my doctors and family did not think I would make it to 6 months. But here I am, a year after my diagnosis and still fighting. My precious children need their mommy. And because of this, with the help of the Lord, I will always fight!!!

My surgeon told me to "go live your life" which is exactly what I try to do. I was diagnosed with breast cancer and malignant Melanoma both in the same year. How strange that you too have had both cancers! I wonder now, if there is some sort of connection between breast cancer and Melanoma?! It's been twelve years now since my diagnosis so you hang in there! God Bless❤️

I met my husband July of 1999. We started dating August 4th 1999. He was diagnosed with Stage 4 NSC Lung Cancer August 2015. He had the most beautiful dreadlocks and skin. Chemo and radiation changed that. This was the most depressing time of my life. He passed away October 8, 2016, 14 months after his diagnosis. I miss my baby so much. Cancer is a bitch. But the toxicities that we are exposed to are even worse. God bless us all and keep this silent and deadly killer called cancer far away.

I was told (with great sadness) in April 2006 that I had only a 40% chance of living 4 more years! It is now September 2017 and my Stage 4 metasticized Thyroid Cancer is still cooking in my right sided cervical lymphnodes (where it spread!) But I am surviving as well as thriving- despite Cancer still being inside my body! (Uninvited, unwanted, unneeded and uncertain of my future!) I am hanging on! Geti

In April, My mother was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer that had advanced to liver. Chemo was her only option. It didn't work. She passed in August. Unfortunately, long term survival stories at stage 4 are extremely rare
@ajimenez1719ify6 жыл бұрын
My mother was diagnosed with stage 4 primary peritoneal cancer, and died the very next day. It's been a little over a month now since her death and I still am just shell shocked by how that could happen to anyone, much less a 58 year old woman that was as healthy as a horse. I miss her more than life, and I swear it feels like it's never going to get any better. I'm so glad to see these ppl have been so blessed and are still here. They are lucky. Not everyone, and not everyone's family is this lucky.

Andrea Jimenez I am so sorry. Losing your mom to cancer sucks! My mom will be dead 18 years in September and some days it feels like yesterday. Some days are better but no day is the same as it was before. Losing a loved one to cancer is the most cruel and unforgivable way and I will forever have nightmares about that time. I am only grateful that her disease didn't last long as she got sick in June, diagnosed in July and died in September. I live in fear of getting cancer but I refuse to die until I am ready so I can say that I have a good 30 years to go😉. I just wanted you to know that you are not alone. Many people feel the pain as you do.

More and more often advanced cancer is more of a chronic disease. I have Stage 4A Ductal Prostate Cancer. It is a very rare form that does not have a lot of symptoms, is hard to detect and even harder to treat. Had surgery (had to fight for it as my cancer had metastasized). This was followed by 38 rounds of radiation and the combination of Lupron and Zytiga with prednisone. The comment that the doctors have hundreds of patents but we have only ourself. Being a retired research chemist I knew how to do literature searches. I provided my medical team with articles on what is known about Ductal cancer. While it is frustrating to have to direct your own treatment, it appears to be working. Almost three years later I am still here.

I've just watched these stories at 3 in the morning because I can not sleep as usual due to a side effect of medication for depression. I have found these stories so touching and makes you realise how precious life is and how we take things for granted. All of your stories are a true inspiration. Becca your voice is stunning. I even just looked to see if you were on I-tunes as your voice is outstanding and that is a beautiful song. To all of you, may you continue to be healthy and happy and thank you for inspiring me and others.

Hi Beverly, thanks for this inspirational video. I lost my grandfather to cancer and held his hand as he slipped away to heaven. I miss him every day. He is my rock and hero. He was a WWII war hero who saved his crew on his B29 bomber as it went down in flames over Burma being the last person to bail out. He went thru hell in a Japenese prison camp and was an Ex-POW. He became a successful businessman only to get cancer twice from smoking habit formed in WWII. In 1982 he quit smoking when I was 3 years old as I urged him to quit. In 2008 he passed away at age 87 holding my hand. My father has Parkinson's now and is 70and is dying slowly. I lost two best friends to suicide in 2013 and I have dealt with blow after blow yet I continue to push forward. I am also special needs and autistic. I am trying to inspire people too like you do that with determination you can overcome anything.

@@janicetracy1295 gosh I really really hope you got help and/or doing well. God forgive me if I am wrong but I don't think Dr. Ben is a real doctor, and I say that because of the awful grammar he used in the thread. What an inspiration!!! ☺️🙏😏I was diagnosed with "Borderline" Stage 4 and inoperable Cervical Cancer in September 2014 and went through Chemotherapie and Radiotherapy and so called "Braccy-Treatment! (A device gets inserted directly into the Cervix and delivers Radiation directly into the Tumor... Extremely scary for me) For the 1st time in my life mortality was in my mind and I have so much to do in my life! But, thanks to today's Medical Treatment, I've survived this now and have made it past the critical 5 years after Treatment! I'm in REMISSION now and determined to keep it that way! Because I wanna see my Grandkids arrive and grow up! I live every day as if it was my last now!!! I was given another chance in life and life has never been easy on me! In 1970, only 3 million people survived cancer. Today, there are 12 million survivors. Yes, but that's noo good when you think of how many people have cancer today vs how many had it in 1970. Percentages are what matter and conventional therapy only increases survival rates by 2.3%

I'm a 2 year survivor of kidney cancer. I'm 58 and was never sick a day in my life and very active. I went to the doctor for blood in my urine and the next day after an ultra sound I walked into the doctors office and he took me out of my medical room and brought me into his office and said "Why don't you sit down". I knew then as my knees got week that it was bad news. I sat down and he turned around to me and said. "You have renal cell carcinoma, and the tumor is 9 centimeters." I was shocked. Cancer happens to other people not me. My surgery was June 7, 2017 and I'm still cancer free. I'm doing every thing I can to kick cancers butt. I hate cancer, it's evil.

I lost a mom, and sister. both had cancer, one had pancreatic cancer she went to fast, and my mom had lung cancer, both of them lasted less than a year after being diagnoised I am a little afraid of cancer, because I see what it does to you, but the pain is no longer there once your loved one passes, they say some cancers are not passed through your family, but I wonder..because the cancer starts in the same area, like my mom, the cancer spread to her pancreas, but it started in her lung and my sister started in her pancreas, both types of cancer are painful, you are all blessed, you beat cancer, cancer did not beat you, or define you

Hi. Greetings from the Philippines. My partner chest xray result showed a mass on his left lung. What's the chances of him having the cancer? Im praying so hard it's nothing and it's benign. He will fly back to the UK for further tests. God bless you all💕

There is zero evidence attitude affects cancer survival, neither does diet or exercise. Being fit affects survival from any surgery but not whether or how cancer spreads. It is bad luck if you get it and good luck if you survive it. I wish everyone luck.

God bless me with all his love and wisdom and God will bless us with the same no matter what befalls us. Cancer we can say the word cancer. Cancer is not so scary when we can say the word cancer and we won't be put thru interrogation about cancer. Alva Nita Bell and cancer. Understand cancer patients. All we have to say is we have cancer and I have cancer. Please no interrogation. Cancer is hard enough and the pain and having no energy. My doctor said I only have to say I have cancer full blown and that is all I have to say when i'm questioned about and I don't have to take any bullying about having cancer. Thanks to my doctor.

Cancer is a terrible disease, and I hope that soon a cure will be found for it, but when a patient has been diagnosed with Stage IV cancer, it is fairly rare that they will recover from it because it metastasizes (spreads) to other organs. But today, we can keep them from suffering with pain and anti-anxiety drugs that can ease their suffering and fears. Patients will go through the stages of anger, denial, fear, disbelief, and other emotions before they accept the inevitable. It's normal for them and normal for their loved ones also. But there are things we can do that can help them all through the process. Health care personnel are ALL very aware of what is happening, how, how long it takes, and are very good about helping everyone through the dying process. It's never easy, but it can be made acceptable because there's nothing else you can finally do, but accept it. We ALL live and we ALL are going to finally die. But if it can be made easier for all, we need to do that, and whatever it takes can and should be done (within legal limits of course) to aid them.

There have been many advances in cancer treatment but the beginning numbers could be perceived as a bad thing. Having more survivors does not equal a positive trend necessarily. It could mean the same percent of people die just many many more get cancer. A comparative number in the form of # out of # in the 70s vs # out of # now would have been a bit more helpful :) I imagine everyone knows more people are surviving as a percentage but just in case you do not know there are pretty great charts to show the progress on the web. With few exceptions nearly every cancers outcome has become better some astoundingly so. DIPG is a huge exception no change in survival rate at all. Many think that if they can unlock the cure for dipg they unlock the key for all cancers especially of the brain!

I was a child in the 1970s. Back then you didn't see or hear of so many cancer incidences. You almost never heard of breast cancer in women under age 50. But now women in their 30s are getting it.

Try stem cell. But you gotta go to Tijuana Mexico to get the treatment.
