Diana has an amazing deep voice and I love her real voice. In my opinion they auto-tuned it a little and in her cover of Human they have overdone it. This is called the Cher-effect. Cher was the first famous singer who used this effect.

She was 15 here , Russian prodigy, Angel 😇 she has a true Contralto Voice , her tone , voice control is epic ..she will be 18 in may, next you should react to Rechenka.. translate to River, very old russian folk song she turns into epic performance..her childhood was tragic abuse, beaten and nearly killed by her birth mother , found her on the street in the middle of winter with a broken shoulder at 4 years old taken to a orphanage and did not speak or not well , a wonderful women who worked there adopted her and sent her to singing lessons to help her with her speech, now everyone is speachless! The epiglottis is a trap door at your windpipe which prevents food or water from enter the lungs while eating or drinking ..... In essence, she is swallowing while singing so what would otherwise be her drawing vocal power from her lungs is instead being drawn from her stomach and resonating through her esophagus ...... She can essentially open and close her epiglottis at will while singing a phrase or extending a note as easily as others can control their vibrato.

Diana has a rare voice, a true contralto and yes that is her live voice. She was 14 when she entered this competition. This is a show for orphans, Diana was abused as a child by her addict mother, she managed by becoming mute. When she was adopted her foster mother took her to singing lessons hoping it would help her delayed speech. It worked and she was found to have an amazing talent which was nurtured from 5 years old. Her mother was from a shamanic tribe and that's filtered through into Diana's amazing voice. If you react to her singing Reshenka you will see this for yourself. Diana Was only 15 years old in this performance but she undoubtedly has an old soul... The depth of her voice and emotional connection to her performances are probably a direct result of her life experiences. This amazing young talent has a harrowing yet inspirational story. As a child Diana had to endure a tragic and dark past... She has never known her father and her mother was a abusive alcoholic and who gave birth to twelve siblings, of which eight of them died. Her mother neglected her, did not feed her, would beat her, and even tried to kill Diana on at least one occasion. Eventually her mother beat her severely leaving her with a broken collarbone and near death, and abandoned her on the streets in the middle of the night. Upon being found a then three year old Diana was retrieved by relatives. Because the neglected and abused Diana was non verbal they assumed that she was mentally handicapped and they gave her to a nearby orphanage. At the orphanage a nurse cared for her and grew to love little Diana. Later the woman decided to take Diana in and raise her as her own. Her foster mother then put young Diana into singing courses to help develop her speech. Diana blossomed and quickly became proficient at not only speech and music but also dancing, theatrical performance, and many advanced vocalization techniques. It is through the love and care of her foster mother that we are blessed today with Diana's unique talents. It is a truly heart warming and inspiring resolution to a story that started so traumatically. Diana is now 16 years old, known as a National treasure in Russia, and she is on the verge of international stardom. No. It's TV Show "You are Super", a musical competition for children (from an orphanage, without parents or adopted). Diana won 2nd season in 2018 and won 3rd superseason in 2019 (Grand-Prix as best performer all seasons). She song 7 songs on this show (2 season at 14 years old - Derniere Danse, It's a man's world, Rechenka, Tomorrow is a lie, 3 superseason at 15 years old - Snowstorm, Wicked Game, Human). 4 judges (2 composers and 2 pro-singers) evaluate musical and theatrical abilities. Judges see the whole performance from the very beginning. 0-1-2-3 votes and the participant drops out of the tournament. 4 votes of the judges and the participant passes to the next round if judge and host chooses him/her. 4 or 5 from 10 kids goes to next round.

Absolutely loved your emotionally charged reaction to Diana(Dee-ana). I'm glad you focused on not only her incredible vocal abilities and range but her stylistic choices and her unique interpretation of this song. I agree that it's a brilliant performance and it's all Diana's natural vocal abilities to manipulate her vocal range being a quite rare contralto. Yes Her voice is described as deep dark haunting mystical theatrical yet warm thick inviting mesmerizing and angelic yet her abilities as a artist channels her emotions captivating and drawing you into another world. I saw a interview with her and she was asked how she prepared to put herself in character and create so much emotion into the song she's going to perform her reply was I just feel the music loose myself in the music and really don't know how my performances went till I get to see them. And I really wish that these guys get to work with the music composers and producers who can match the scale of their talents and really help them to ramp-up and become what they were meant to be. You know when guys like Dimash and Diana showed up I started to get more optimistic about the future of russian (and not only russian) musical environment. The way they sing and the songs that they choose remind me of that era of russian music that dates back to the last decades of the Soviet period. Back then if you were seeing anyone perform a song on Soviet TV that meant that the song was written by a composer capable of writing a symphony and the lyrics were written by famous poets - you have no idea how deep the meaning and the atmosphere of these pieces were. Many songs we hear nowadays consist on "tunes" and "lyrics" and maybe some rhythm for the muscles, but back then these were "symphonies" + "poems" diving deep into your soul and we lost most of that in the 1990s. But now I want to believe we have a chance to get it back. And it's not only Russia or Kazakhstan where such trend starts to show up, it's pretty much everywhere - Asia, Europe, US and more - because people are tired of some cheap mass-culture chewing gum and want something real. Sorry for making it long)))

I know this is an old video but wanted to say she was 15 here and still developing as a singer. Yes, that is her voice, no electronic enhancement. She is a polyphonic contralto with an amazing range and stage presence.

I third that. If you want showmanship, go to rechenka. Wicked game is nice, but it's a little less reflective of her stage presence. This was by far not all she is capable of and the voice is real, btw 😉

Yes, that is her natural voice. There are a lot of other songs performed by Diana (you guessed right - Diana is pronounced like in Spanish, Greek, Portuguese or Italian), where you see all the diversity of using her voice and gestures as regards the stage performance...

You haven’t even scratched the surface of Diana Ankudinova! She was only 14 years old when she entered this contest show, and she turned 15 years old during it. She was abused by her mother and abandoned by her. Diana was then raised in an orphanage, until she was adopted. Her adoptive mother entered her into a music school because she was not talking much. Diana flourished as a singing prodigy. She went on to enter many singing contests and shows. She actually won this contest. You should next react to her performance of “Rechenka” (River), and then to her performance of “Human.” They are even more mind blowing than this one “Wicked Game.” By the way, that is her natural voice. Her voice has been naturally becoming deeper as she gets older. Some think that she has a naturally pulled , or dropped larynx. A bit like Cher, but much more so.
