@@stageleftaudio I wanted to say THANK YOU. Over the last year I have watched all of your live performance videos, and your instructional videos regarding speaker placement, etc. Just did my first live outdoor concert two weeks ago(Bass, electric guitar, drums, female and male lead vocal). Among other things, I learned that I need better time management(more pre-labeling, etc.), and more time with the band on setting up their monitors, but there was so much more that went right, and I owe a lot of that to you. Thank you. Carl P.S. It was pretty cool, when I turned up the faders, and low and behold, music actually came out of the speakers! LOL

Thank you for your kind words Carl! Congratulations on your first outdoor gig! Good to see you had a lot of positives. A "hidden" cost of providing sound is just as you mentioned, "time management". We may spend many hours (over the course of a couple of weeks before an event ) preparing for a show doing things like pre-labeling, communicating with the bands, creating input lists for the bands, preparing the console(s), loading equipment... it's not glamorous, but is part of what providing sound is all about. It will become easier for you the more events you do. Keep up the good work!

It appears you run mono live in some of your videos, so in the headphones solo would be panned left? Also, in a live mono rig, how do you run tracks and tune up music without phase issues? Great videos, thanks. edit (Stereo tracks and tune up music)
@stageleftaudio4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. We run mono for all live events. The soloing in the headphones comes directly from the channel (as a PFL), which is a mono signal, but goes to L/R in the headphones - no panning. For live shows, the bands are informed their performance will be mono. The bands have been very accepting of the mono setup. If the bands are only able to provide a stereo output, we provide 2 inputs on the console for L and R and treat them as individual channels. There has been some minor phase issues with heavy stereo effects (from the instrument). However, it has never sounded bad. Our sound systems are used for live sound only, no playback of stereo music (i.e. as a DJ). We have a video covering mono vs stereo for live sound. It comes down to the size of the stage as a determining factor: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYDHm3x-e6d2js0 Hope this helps.

@@stageleftaudio Thanks, I like a mono setup, makes sense to me. Even in a smaller room, people are too spread out to really get the effect of stereo and can't hear sources widely panned away from them. I don't see much practical sense of "narrow" panning. My 2 cents anyway.

My exposure to the recording side of the Presonus is very limited. Is the firmware up to date on your console? If you want to do a factory reset on it, take a look at the manual, it will show you how. If the problem persists, I recommend opening a ticket with Presonus on it, or try searching the Q&A section of Presonus. The only issues we are aware of with the recording function is the use of non "approved" SD cards... however, it looks like you have already ruled that issue out.
