This was still a time where ALL the wrestling promoters got along (tail end) & we, THE FANS, won!!! Bring back this genre of Wrestling. Maybe when McMahon croaks & gives the reigns (no pun intended) to someone like HHH, maybe we can get back to (or come close to) this atmosphere.

I got to meet JYD a few yrs ago right before his death here in Mobile Alabama. He came in & wrestled for a small promotion here in Mobile. JYD was a very nice guy...he told me he really loved interactions with wrestling fans & talking about past Wrestling matches he was in. Much love from Mobile.

When he left the south & came up to the WWF, JYD was one of my favorite mid-card wrestlers. Even though he was a SUPERSTAR in the southern terretories, he never had quite the same shine/over in the WWF. But still; loved the personality & style.

I was stationed at Keesler AFB in Biloxi & remember hearing about him in Mobile, appeared on some local circuits there with "Bullet" Bob Armstrong & others. 👍🏾

Hercules Hernandez.

Definitely Hercules Hernandez. He started out as Mr. Wrestling III but, at this time, he was Mr. Wrestling II and Mr. Wrestling II was just known as Mr. Wrestling. Not long after this Hernandez got unmasked. Earlier in this same year Hernandez wrestled as the Assassin II in Jim Crockett promotions and was unmasked by Jimmy Valiant. Hernandez had bad luck as a masked man. He wrestled under a mask one last time as the Super Invader in WCW in 1992.

That was the point, they wanted fans to know it was JYD, that he was fighting the system and was sticking it to the bad guys even though he was suspended or banned. Same thing with Dusty as the Midnight Rider or Dusty/Magnum as the James boys, the point was to make it obvious to the fans as to who were behind these masks to add another layer and some excitement to a particular angle.

That was the gimmick . It was supposed to be obvious . If he got unmasked though , thwre was a lifetime ban from the territory . So we , knew he was never going to unmasked . New Orleans dried up when the Dog left for WWF , and those Superdome shows were the bank for MidSouth .
