Dave had received the idea to apply steam to hay but struggled to know what to do next. Things got busy on the farm and Dave hadn't done anything with his idea. It was at his family Christmas party that year that Dave's brother Mike strongly encouraged him to not give up on the idea. After all, it was an inspired idea that could really change the hay industry.
Mike provided the encouragement that Dave needed, and Dave started researching how to make steam. He tried many different things, but those things only made hot water, not pure steam, as he had previously made with his wife's pressure cooker to test the idea originally. He knew he needed something that would make steam.
Dave's interest turned to boilers but soon realized that most boiler companies thought he was crazy for wanting to put a mobile boiler in a hay field. Dave became discouraged because he couldn't find a boiler company that would work with him.
Dave decided to get on his knees once more. After all, that's how he received the idea to apply steam to the hay originally. It was during that prayer that Dave received a phone call. From that phone call, Dave was able to find a boiler company and develop his first working prototype.
There were many ups and downs along the way for Dave, but through persistent trial and error and inspiration, Dave had developed a machine that was used for years on Brent Hunter Farms.
He caught the attention of all of his neighbors, as this was a completely new concept, but he also started catching attention from his hay buyer for the quality of hay they were now producing.
