It was a very old song, made by himself when he was young. I knew the background of this song, it makes me more touched. Before we kids made fun with Tengeri´s special singing way, now when I saw the old man sang it I cried. When I was a kid, he already showed to public his talent.I believe all people from the generation of my parents love his HEAVEN. He got a baby when he was 44 Several years later, his only child was ill. His wife and he cut all hair to support and comfort their daughter. Unfortunately the little girl still passed away. Tengeri´s heaven was broken. Then he disappeared for years. He went to his homeland, the desert of Inner Mongolian, which was heaven before. He planted many trees. It costed all his money. So several years later, he appeared and sang again to get money to plant , then he went back to desert. Recent years he´s keep doing this. He lived in heaven, then he lost his girl, lost his home. He tried so hard to pull it back, at least get his homeland back with green grass and crystal lakes. But it was not easy, all trees died in the first year. After it, Tengeri spent more time to investigate it. Now he is expert at it, and got 30.000 trees alive in the desert. When he sang in Singer, he´s 58. He´s never had hair after his daughter died. He lived frugal, but is willing to donate money to poor kids and schools. Could you image when I heard him again singing with cute smile on face¨...and you, my girl. This is my home, my heaven...¨My heart feels happy, sweet, pain, sad...at the same time. He smiled but he sang it full of pain.

Tengri finally agreed to participate in The Singer to show the younger generation the traditional way of Mongolian singing, he is considered a national treasure. That is how I taught myself how to do the metal growling vocals.

I love the dynamics of Chinese singing. They're so rich in their sound dynamics, using the voice like a musical instrument. It's very in line with the taoist yin yang philosophy of having ebbing and flowing, pushing and pulling, crescendo and diminuendo. Dimash does this to a degree in his singing with a more contemporary approach, and that's why I really love how he sings. I love complementary and contrasting elements in musical composition and vocal quality.

In the song, Tengri is referring to Inner Mongolia, where he is from, as heaven. Evidently it has been ruined by over industrialization, and the song is a plea to let his land return to the way it was. Hua Chenyu has done a cover of this song, and thought this performance deserved to win the episode. Your demonstration of the polyphonic overtones was successful, and we could hear you cycle through the overtones as you changed your tongue position. I first became aware of this technique in the 80's, back when the "New Age" music category was born, due to "David Hykes and The Harmonic Choir".

Why don't we have shows like this in the UK, or the USA? Capitalism, value is not put on culture, only on what sells. China, Russia, and to a lesser degree India still value their culture over profits.

@@stanleyho8009 Which is capitalism. It makes money because it is entertaining and people want more of it. Capitalism does not produce things that have no demand. If one does not like a product made in a capitalistic system, they should blame the culture.
@stanleyho80095 жыл бұрын
Pyryp2 hmm shows always have the intention to make money, but the main purpose was (pretty sure) entertainment. If I go to a bar and entertain people with jokes (as performance) just because I like it I don’t necessarily want anything back for it, because I want to do it (unless I need money but it doesn’t earn that much I’m guessing). Not everything involving money is automatically capitalism 🤷♂️
@stanleyho80095 жыл бұрын
Pyryp2 besides Howard just said they valued culture over profit doesn’t mean they don’t value money anymore. If you’re not rich money will be on e of the purposes but it’s that they put culture before money and I think that does make a difference. It’s also the fact that singers here come to prove themselves as real singer a lot of singers are famous but have a sad story. Like one of them couldn’t sing on stage for 20 years because he didn’t get the chance after his company broke his contract. But after this show invited him he had hope again and show the world he was a singer. They purposely chose these kind of people to give singers a chance to prove themselves and give them opportunities they won’t get otherwise. But of course there are also really famous singers like Jessie J and Wang Feng who don’t really need to prove themselves but the producers really did this thoughtfully.
