The kid wasn't good enough for the people around him, he had no confidence, he'd fallen. His way off getting back up was letting them know he'd had enough by scoring the own-touchdown. His way off saying, "fuck ya, pricks". Video makes perfect sense and relates to the song.
@InHeartsWake19897 жыл бұрын
yea, I think Its sayn "fuck you" to the coaches/parents taking the fun outta sports as well.
@RsPker1412 жыл бұрын
I love that take. I agree
@zoegartham312 Жыл бұрын
@@RsPker141 Let me add to it then. The way Staind uses the slow motion for the entire video makes me believe that it is also a commentary about how we take the wrong things in life too seriously. It's just a kiddie football game, in the grand scheme of things it won't matter. Or perhaps I should say, it shouldn't matter. Lord knows that with the amount of bullying the kid is going to get over this, he'll need therapy for the rest of his life. But my point is still valid. The look in the coach's eyes of sheer disgust, disbelief, even, dare I say it, anger and hate at 4:04-4:07 and again at 4:14 is exactly what I am getting at. I understand that it is overexaggerated to the point of being farcical for the sake of the video, but that happens in real life too. Winning is NOT the most important thing, not when it is at the expense of someone else. Sports may be the sole exception to that, but sports are meant for entertainment, not for the serious business model they have become. I feel like modern sports have largely lost a lot of the, "fun of the game," and replaced it with, "fun of corporate sponsorships," or, "fun of making money,". Anyway, that's my take.

The words to this song make me think about my alcoholic husband.After 10yrs of being the one trying to help him with his problem,I finally gave up, quit trying & fighting after so many promises from him about getting help. The saddest thing is he has even promised our 2 beautiful children he'd quit but has broke their hearts many times over :( They are my "reason" for moving on & leaving him to face, fix, or continue with his problem on his own.Only YOU can change YOURSELF!

Music has different meaning to different people. Some bands don't explain the meaning of their songs so that their listeners can find their own meaning. You all could be right. It's a matter of perspective.That's part of what allows music to cross social borders.

One more meaning to the lyrics: “If you BELIEVE (IN GOD) you can find the way out”: understand the meaning of your life makes it worth to live for... and “you solve the problem” Un significado más a la letra: “Si CREES (EN DIOS) podrás encontrar la salida”: entender el significado de tu vida la hace más valiosa para vivirla... y “resuelves el problema”.

Believe in your children and give them the reasons to believe in themselves. I love my son. His mother and I are both fucked up but I am aware of my problems and I'm stuck while she has found a way to solve hers. To not respond or interact with this child at all but yet has a family with a woman and kids. But I thank her for this child, the least I can love her for. I'll find a way out and solve these problems of my own on my own.

I think the video has been interpreted wrong, I think the kid knew he was running the wrong direction, I feel he did it to spike them for being on the bench for so long. It shows his direct anger and frustration from the pressures of American society dragging on him. I love staind, they are one of the few bands that truly made albums that make sense to true life.... ****2 cents deposited****

The child in this video just wants to play, and doesn't understand what all the adults are screaming at him about, He's just happy to have scored. I played little league in the 4th grade, the coach constantly screaming at you, being afraid of failure, wanting approval and praise, so much pressure put on children for a meaningless and violent sport. I relate to this child very much. Granted the video has little to do with the song, but it's still extremely deep and has a great message.
