We have about 1250 sf on a bottom floor, how long should be we plan to finish the DIY job if we're doing a few hours a day? @Michael ~ I realize that this response is a year after you commented..but, i just wanted to share my thoughts & opinions with you. You asked if these floors looked good in a semi-modern & pretty much open floor plan... I feel like this particular look & style/finish for the floor ~ it was damn near exclusively made for "semi-modern/open floor plans". Lol. (Im exaggerating a little..but, both of those go together so well!!) Again, this is just my opinion/these are my tastes & theyre based on what I've seen/come across/tried out over the years. Im big on the asthetic, the feel, the flow, etc of my home & places in general. I'm researching & planning out an upgrade/remodel for my house right now & these floors are a huge part of that plan.. (that's why I ended up here on this video & replying to you. Lol). Couple of the things that I like most about the floors being done like this (especially in a space that's "semi-modern & has an open floor plan") is this : ** the floor color that's being done in the video ~ i think it goes really well with a wide range of colors & furniture styles. It ties in really nice with all kinds of different options. ** you can use different sizes/shapes of rugs & different pieces of furniture together to define/create the particular spaces that youre wanting in that open area. For example... - a sectional + a big area rug + a behind the sectional console table can define the living room space. - longer/skinnier rugs are good for defining walkways or "hallway" areas in a wide open area. And, they do a good job of creating a "line" or "point of separation" between your living room area & a library/reading area or an office (for example). The living room area is on one side of the long/skinny rug & the reading area or office space is on the other side of that long/skinny rug. The furniture defines the space & the rug gives a distinct separation of the 2 areas. ---------------------------------------- Side Note ~ any throw rug would work but there's a brand called "Ruggable" that I think is worth checking out. The system is pretty "cool". It's made up of 2 different parts or layers..There's a bottom layer that keeps the rug secured really well to the floor & then there is the top layer that serves as the "rug" part of the system. It makes it to where you're able to buy multiple styles, looks, & patterns & switch them all out. They come up really easy & they can be thrown in the wash easily for cleaning, as well. Makes it easy to change the look out throughout the year and keep the areas looking fresh. Makes it easy to keep the rugs clean if you have pets & kids "movin' & shakin'" day in and day out. They have a really cool thing going on. So, yeah..this style & look of flooring is most definitely a "GO" with the kind of space that you're talking about!

Your guess is as good as mine. Sounds similar to an old Alchemist beat.

Is this too slippery to use on a porch or patio?
@Cretosealsealants

Not if you use Poly Step Guard which is a satin sheen, smooth but slip resistant polyurethane. It's super easy to use, you just roll it on. Check it out at the link in the description. Thanks!

How long does the stain take to dry?
@Cretosealsealants
@Cretosealsealants 3 жыл бұрын
Usually around two hours give or take. After it's dry to touch you can apply the surface sealer.

Very high maintenance. Plus if you ever want to change to ceramic tile or porcelain, you have to grind the floors back down to concrete. Trust me.

The sealer only needs to be reapplied every ten years.... not too bad.

Not possible to disguise or hide the cracks ?
@Cretosealsealants
@Cretosealsealants 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Tony, not really. A clear crack fill wouldn't be quite as noticeable but the concept is to accentuate the imperfections.

If he resurfaced and then stained he probably could of.

@@papasmurf7684 There are other crack fills which would match the original concrete better. This client wanted the cracks and a rustic look.

How much would that project cost?
@Cretosealsealants
@Cretosealsealants 4 жыл бұрын
You would have to inquire with contractors in your area. Using a topical sealer like Barrier EXT would greatly reduce the cost of a service like was shown in this video. The "polished" topical sealer I used is super expensive and difficult to apply.

I agree. Respirators should be worn when spraying indoors. It was winter time so the windows were closed to ensure that the stains and sealants cured correctly.

This was an existing concrete floor. This is like watching a video on learning to fly an airplane that is about buying a ticket and going to the airport and getting on a plane. See, now you are flying! But what about the airplane part? Oh, sorry. How about actually pouring a concrete floor?
@CretoSeal20

Bad analogy! This is "restoration", not "installation". That's why they are two different words describing two different processes. Plenty of vids on YT showing how to pour Renee.

Do not buy this product. I spent almost 400$ on barrier gloss sealer and followed all the instructions. The sealer turned to dust and the company wouldn’t refund me and took back their offer to send me more product. Bought another sealer from Home Depot and it worked flawlessly.
