Great looking bowl ... one thing I would have liked would have been if you would have added a top rim made from the resin you used as the pour between the color chips. I like Doug's bowl, too. A question: since you used such a large piece of wood for the liner - is it OK to use a soft wood for that or does it need to be a "good wood"?

I usually use an OB shine Juice finish for hybrid bowls with wood and resin and resin on resin bowls. The reason being that I have issues with stippling (dimpling) on wood when I use resin. Plus a resin finish looks plasticky on a wood bowl.

Well as an impartial judge (not that a collaboration is a contest ) I like your end result. His was a novel idea with the lampshade but as he said he lost a lot of color. I guess his looks more like stained glass but yours is unique. I’ve been turning pens and am starting to do bowls. Why don’t turners use a smaller plastic bowl inside of the resin instead of wood just to save all of that hogging out of the middle?
@MoonpieCreations3 жыл бұрын
Hey Thanks Andy, So, IMO I use wood because it is easier to use that trying to get a plastic bowl that fits right. It also gives you a place for the faceplate or worm screw. I hope that explains it a bit.
