This week we're making our way back to the living room to start working on fixing the stained glass window that sadly shattered. I went thorough a solid week of silence after I broke the window however WE ARE GONNA FIX IT! I also decided to start working on the fireplace mantle to see what options we have. I truly cannot wait to select a paint color and get to painting.

Totally agree. With the book cases and other shelves in there, the mantle was not needed. The no mantle look gives it a cleaner look and in my opinion a New Mexico vibe.

The sculptural quality of the fireplace-sans-mantle is so elegant. Having it 'pure' honors the original intent and elevates the room. P.S. Your repair of the door is fantastic.

The fireplace looks great with no mantle. It was obviously the architect's intent. I'm so glad you were able to repair the stained glass door - great job! I hope you opt for Old White as your paint choice. It really compliments the tile on the fireplace.

I’m so glad you were able to find a solution for your stained glass windows. I gasped when I saw the cracks and worried that there might not be a replacement, but that you found the exact match for the stained glass is amazing! I hope the installation of them goes wayyy smoother.

OMG! This video is packed! Was feeling your pain about the broken stained glass door! Gasping!! Heart Stopping!! Devastating!! Amazing that you found that fabulous stained glass store that had the perfect glass for this door! Bonus that they were so skilled in helping you and actually cutting the glass. Then that fireplace, OMG! Glad you have the eye that could distinguish that, what was there, wasn't right! Love it without any mantel! So happy that you are restoring it to its true beauty! Really looking forward to seeing your paint for this room. Phew! What an episode! Thanks!

Hi, I think you forgot to use Glazier Push Points to hold the glass in place. I don't think the putty will securely hold the glass in place during storms.

These are decorative window 'PANELS' and not are not meant to function as real windows. They were/are typically used as an insert into a window frame - sitting against the clear glass and secured with light trim creating a frame

With all the crazy weather going on in your area, I pray that your stained glass panels will stand up to the wind. Will they be mounted over the regular glass doors & if so, are the doors strong enough to hold the weight of the stained glass panels? I worry about another accident. 🙏🙏🙏🙏 please mount them properly. They are just gorgeous.

Am not a designer, however with the old stained glass doors, a cathedral has quite a few, and to preserve them from this Houston weather, have added a protective clear plastic or glass shield covering them, separate from the stained glass, but not readily apparent that it is so. With the California weather making headlines here in Houston, maybe another level of protection. Yay for your integrity Lone Fox, and a big Yay to Justin for his eagle eye and knowledge of older construction methods!

Kudos on respecting the architecture of an older home on your fireplace decision and kudos restoring the stained glass door! You probably know with the way color and light plays on on our eyes that when you are choosing neutrals you will be experiencing any red pulling to the front if you put it against a green and vice versa a neutral will read green against something red.. they are complimentary colors and polarize .. so it wasn't surprising that you picked up on the green in the paint swatch against the deep red of the Batchelder Tile .. it will also make that red in the tile redder! more red.. haha..

The fireplace just looks RIGHT with no mantel. I think a mantel takes away from that beautiful little alcove and ruins the silhouette. It looks beautiful now! Someone else described it as looking primitive and I agree. It's like a window through time. And honestly, I've been seeing the "chunky mantel" look a lot lately, like when people put a thick wood shelf above the fireplace, and I think it starts to look every Joanna Gaines farmhouse chic.
