Whoa , those doors and hardware are Boss . I used the same behr product stain. A few years back it was just clear . Now to match my fence w transparent they have to add some tint to match . All and all , it's a great product that lasts a few years till I have to reapply . Thanx for the video . You did fantastic by the way. 👏👍

I'm glad I ran into this video. Thank you for all the tips! I wanted to do a very light stain on my fence. The Behr "clear" transparent waterproofing shown in this video is very similar to what I wanted (a slight darker shade). I still think that it's a bit deceiving for Behr to have a tint on a clear/transparent product.

Opps. Pro painters tip. For stains, paints etc, always mix thoroughly before use. AND if you have more than one container/gallon of paint or stain, pour into a larger container and mix so that the blend together and the entire project looks evenly applied through out.

Hello, I plan to buy some tools to start doing things in wood, things for home, beds and simple furniture for example, the query I wanted to ask you is if you know the oscillating multipurpose tool, also called oscillating multitool that brings pointers for sanding, to make cuts, etc, I do not know if I buy (apart from a circular saw) a multitool of those that I mention or a jig and a sander, I hope you can help me, thanks
@DIYMontreal5 жыл бұрын
Well I don't even own a multi oscillating tool so I'm not sure that would be at the top of my list. Definetly an orbital sander. I would go with a miter saw instead of a circular saw personally for greater precision. Good luck!

Marie, It's early April, how does the fence look after 10 months? Would you still recommend the Behr product? How did you determine which product to use? I was going to use Thompson's Water Seal but the reviews aren't that good. I live near Chicago so I need something that will protect against the harsh winter months like Montreal! Thanks for taking time to read this. Tim
@DIYMontreal4 жыл бұрын
Hi, After the winter I can say the fence still looks exactly the same as when I did it. I was kind of hoping the color would fade, but no luck lol. So far I would recommend the Behr. I've hear bad things about Thompsons as well, will only last 1 year. I honestly chose the product by convenience (at Home Depot) but wanted something that promised to last for several years and that was not film forming as I've read they will flake off after a few years.

Clear or neutral stains to not protect against UVA or UVB. The only way to protect against UVA and UVB is to paint it. But that is counter intuitive for using nice looking wood. A happy medium is using a semi transparent stain which give much better UVA and UVB protection. That being said, all wood exposed to sunlight will gray out eventually.

@DIYMontreal4 жыл бұрын

@bodeine4545 жыл бұрын
It looks great but I think you're confusing a finish with a stain. This is a finish coat, a stain soaks into the wood and changes the color but doesn't give much or any protection from the elements unless you're using a combination finish/stain in which it does both at the same time.
@DIYMontreal5 жыл бұрын
Well I thought I was using a finish coat at first but then noticed it was more of a combo.
@ss4goku344 жыл бұрын
So to waterproof a fence, do i need to get a finish or a stain?
@bodeine4544 жыл бұрын
@@ss4goku34 You need either a finish or a finish/stain combo, just a stain alone won't do anything but change the color. The hardware store can help you with that, they'll point you in the right direction.
