Great video! Two questions: 1. When using pooled staking with Kiln through Ledger Live, what would be a reasonable amount of ETH to stake? What portion of your total available ETH balance should you use? Recommendations? (considering risks) In your example you staked 2 ETH with a balance of 9.46 ETH left in Ledger Live? So around 17.5%? 2. What are the costs to start the pooled staking process and to exit it / withdraw? Ideally you want to start and exit the staking process as less often as possible to minimize costs right? Thanks!

After 5 days of staking it seems like best day have been 4,8% and lowest 3,37%. It changes every day. It seems like also the rewards are going directly to the staking too, so it is actually better % for a year because interest is getting more interest, so that is really nice. I haven't also tried withdrawing yet because it costs so much, hope someone can tell it went well without any problems. Gas fee is also high right now: 0.015 ETH for depositing to staking and withdrawing from staking: 0,027 ETH, so it won't be profitable stake anything under 1 ETH for one year right now. Gas fees are same if you stake for example 1 ETH or 0,05 ETH, the amount does not matter. Really high gas prices right now. However it changes all the time a little. Sorry, English is my second language, maybe won't have everything correct. This is not an investment advice, just telling my experience. I would like to hear more what you guys have to say about this staking.

So I have a few questions. What is the risk in running your own Validator with 32ETH vs pool staking with like Lido? Is one more secure than the other? Is the only risk of loosing my original 32 ETH is if the smart contract gets hacked? Im trying to convince a friend to stake but they are so worried about safety. Im trying to figure out the inherent risks involved with each.
@Ledger
@Ledger 11 ай бұрын
Hey, to further clarify, Running your own validator with 32 ETH and pool staking with Lido both have their own risks and rewards. When you run your own validator, you have full control over your ETH and the staking process. However, it requires technical knowledge to set up and maintain the validator node. If your node goes offline or doesn't perform its duties correctly, you could be penalized by losing a portion of your staked ETH, known as slashing. support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/7732713721373-How-to-solo-stake-ETH-with-Kiln-through-Ledger-Live?docs=true On the other hand, when you stake with Lido, you don't need to run your own node or have 32 ETH. Lido pools your ETH with others until it reaches 32 ETH and sets up a validator node. And you get an ERC20 token called stETH for the amount of ETH you staked with them. However, staking with Lido also has risks. These include the risk of stETH deviating from its ETH peg, potential smart contract bugs, and the risk of slashing. support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/4406882832401-Staking-ETH-through-Ledger-Live-with-Lido?docs=true It's essential you perform your own due diligence and choose the provider and service the suits you!

Hello, thanks for the video. As a Ledger user, I have a question that I haven't been able to clarify. Assuming I put less than 32 eth in pool staking with Kiln, is my original eth still safe in self custody or not in case there is a serious problem? What I want to know is: I may even lose the expected earn (I can live with that), but is my original eth always safeguarded?
@Ledger
@Ledger 11 ай бұрын
Hi Joel - yes you can put any amount of ETH you want into a staking pool. The ETH you don't put into the pool will stay in your wallet as is and will not be staked. Basically each unit of ETH is independent and you're free to pool it or not. Hope this clarifies!

Thanks for the quick reply, but now I realize I didn't explain myself well. Is that right?@@Ledger

Hi, i have to pay gas fees only when i stake/unstake or even the daily autocompounding needs gas?
@Ledger
@Ledger 9 ай бұрын
Hey Ganzo, this really depends on which crypto you are staking and how, gas fees are required for all transactions that involve executing operations, including staking, unstaking, and any transactions. Each of these actions requires computational power to process and record the transactions on the blockchain, which incurs gas fees. The amount of gas needed can vary based on the complexity of the transaction and the current network congestion and which network is being used. Now some other methods of staking, like if you use LIDO Liquid staking for ETH, then the auto compounding doesn't incur fees each time, this is because this is done by smart contract on LIDO's protocol, and daily you will receive compounded rewards as stETH (ERC20) token. But for example, if you are staking Cosmos ATOM, then indeed, compounding rewards will definitely require you to sign a transaction to approve it, and pay gas fees, this is because you are staking natively on the network. I hope this better clarifies.

@Ledger
@Ledger 9 ай бұрын
Hello Eduardo, when you stake your cryptocurrencies using Ledger Live, your assets remain secure on your Ledger hardware wallet. The staking process allows you to earn rewards without moving your assets off your device. The private keys for your crypto assets stay offline and are never exposed, which is a fundamental aspect of Ledger's security. Staking through Ledger Live is done on blockchains that use a Proof-of-Stake protocol, and you can participate in staking directly through Ledger's own validator node. This means you can enter the world of staking securely via a platform you already know and trust. However, it's important to note that while your private keys remain secure on your Ledger device, staking does involve certain risks, such as slashing (penalties applied by some networks for validator downtime or misbehavior). But these risks do not include the theft of your staked assets from your Ledger wallet as long as you follow security best practices. For more information on the security of staking with Ledger Live, you can visit the following link: www.ledger.com/academy/the-power-of-ledger-live Remember to always keep your recovery phrase safe and never share it with anyone, as it is the key to accessing your funds. support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/5961622776861-Staking-your-crypto-through-Ledger-Live?docs=true

Hey - no, this means that the app will not let you stake your entire balance because it wants you to keep some ETH in your Ethereum account to pay for the transaction fee to stake and later unstake your ETH. Hey Janos, the note "0.02 ETH saved for fees" in the context of Kiln staking means that this amount of your staked ETH is reserved to cover transaction fees on the Ethereum network. This is separate from any service fees that Kiln may charge. As for the 12% fee from the rewards, it's best to refer to Kiln's specific terms and conditions or their official documentation for accurate information.
