Thank you for your video, can integrate microsoft onenote with microsoft to do ??
3 жыл бұрын
not yet, only way is to create an outlook task in OneNote which will show up in ToDo, but it wont register as completed when you complete it in ToDo. Microsoft has heard the request though, so hope something happens.

Stale, how do you combine your To Do inbox with your OneNote quick notes inbox? Do you just check both during inbox processing?

@Stale : in the 'Why I switched to To Do for tasks' section at 3:10, I would have add a link between Sticky Notes and OneNote. By this, I can access my quick notes from both sides.

Agreed, they are connected 👍 but getting sticky notes in todo has its advantages

Great video. Wasn’t thinking of ToDo as I still thought of it as wunderlist reskinned. Going to give it another look. OneNote is really good for what it does, but task management while functionally possible, I find still a little mushy.

struggling to replace ToDo with the find tags (dynamic todo) report from OneNote

For me, lists has taken over that role in ToDo

Hi Stale, I am missing one thing in your video, how do you link task with one note? can you explain it pls?
@chaskinsnc2 жыл бұрын
Just finding your video and thank you for your perspective. I use GTD loosely and I say that because I cannot settle on Evernote, Onenote, Applenotes, ToDo, Reminders, lol. I switch every 3 mos. My company uses M365 and Onenote is a solid platform but full integration is not there yet with Todo. Your Approach makes sense. What do you recommend for when I am onsite taking hand written onenotes with a customer. Best method to create the follow up tasks and stay on top of them? I assume I would have to transfer handwritten tasks to Todo? Is there a way to flag them in OneNote being handwritten? New Subscriber and will continue to follow!

very interesting: how do you manage project and context? I'm trying using tags but i'm struggling...the bigger issue i found using tag in To Do is that when I use search the tag also it show also completed tags
4 жыл бұрын
There are two aspects of managing projects, the first is your personal project, I would use a separate list for that. Second, if it's a team project, we use Planner and Project for the web for that. To Do is for individual productivity, Planner is for Team productivity. Thanks for watching 👍
@conlomerate48413 жыл бұрын
The way you use TO DO - isn't it same as using Planner? Each Project essentially a card and there are steps under it. The good thing with planner you can add more information. I was wondering what would be the point in using Todo with the way you use it like that at the moment?
3 жыл бұрын
I would say that ToDo is for personal use and Planner is for Team use. Today, each planner is a Microsoft 365 Group, so creating planner for personal use does not scale in the infrastructure. Also, you see all assigned Planner tasks in the To Do app.

I did a talk on tasks in Teams and how Planner and To Do are connected with Teams at TeamsNation. You can check out the recording here kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHvSYZmaq5l5o8k

@ Good point. I do like to see my personal items in a kanban view, though, hope todo does that one day like todoist.
@victororear27563 жыл бұрын
@ You could create a personal Team (of one) that can store your work files and manage your personal projects (with sub tasks), but keep using ToDo for your atomic tasks.

Stale, enjoyed your video. Have you used the meeting notes feature inside of Teams at all? Or, do you till prefer OneNote. I like how Microsoft has been steadily improving the Meeting notes feature in Teams, especially with the new experience they are currently rolling out- essentially, it’s their “wiki” feature but specific to each meeting.
4 жыл бұрын
Hey, we use meeting notes in Teams when we do internal meetings or project meetings. As a consultant, I do a lot of one-off Outlook meetings and that's where I take meetings notes in OneNote for Individual Productivity. Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching :)

Hello, nice video. I use Microsoft's todo extensively and It is my main way to add tasks for projects and whatnot. I wonder if I can just have a calendar view of all my todos in this app. It would be great if you had a button within TODO that was a calendar view. I do not use outlook, but is it possible to see what is already on TODO's app in a calandar view that shows you week view and month for a more broad perspective on what is happening? Thanks for any insight. If I have to sync TODO to a calendar for this can it be done with the provided calendar app in windows or must be Outlook for example?
4 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't hold my breath for that coming to to do, if you can make it work in Outlook, then that's the best approach
@petefork57994 жыл бұрын
@ thanks. So I may be able to syng my tasks on todo that have dates with outlook calendar? I just want to be able to see my due tasks in a calendar view. If any suggestions, I'd appreciate it.

@@petefork5799 You will see all your tasks from ToDo in Outlook calendar view and you can click and drag them to your days in the calendar to plan when to do them.

A challenge I'm finding with GTD and To-Do is how to track "next actions" and how #tags should play into this format. Have you had any luck on this? David Allen Co. has released an official setup doc for Outlook/To-do but it's focus is primarily on Outlook
4 жыл бұрын
I use lists to organize and tag the tasks and important to prioritize them. Works well enough so far.
@shawniscoolerthanyou2 жыл бұрын
GTD is specifically *not* vague lists of things you want to read. It's a list of projects, which are a clearly defined outcome with a series of definitive next actions.

Microsoft Todo would be be great but it is blocked by my company. So all of the goodness We had with Wunderlist is lost for many of us. Until some of the security concerns for Microsoft Todo are addressed, many of us will not have access because that app is purposely being blocked by our companies.

That is sad to hear, I am not sure what the issue is with To Do though as it recides in the context of your mailbox. Do you have access to it on web by going to office.portal.com? if so you can use that version on a PC or Mac at least.

How about Microsoft integrating To-Do in to the new OneNote?
4 жыл бұрын
To be honest, I believe it will go the other direction. It would be cool if tasks and tags in OneNote would be fully integrated with To Do. Also we need to look at the underlying technology, which shows that your personal tasks will go to To Do.
@RishiSaran3 жыл бұрын
Problem with #Microsoft #ToDo is that it doesn’t do Location based reminders so a No Go! Prefer Apple Reminders since I’m in an Apple Eco System anyway. Problem with #Microsoft #OneNote is that it’s pages are infinite. It deleted one of the pages which even their customer support was unable to recover. I prefer a Notebook and not infinite pages. Pens are gimmicky too and handwriting worse than my actual handwriting. So a No Go too 😂
@sergiorodriguez9203 жыл бұрын
Ok, but I would like to see a REAL example, it seems too easy with only 1 to 4 tasks per list... currently I have more than 150 task in my ToDo and I am looking for other people’s ideas about how to setup ToDo with hundreds of Taks
3 жыл бұрын
That is why I show this, it scales for hundreds of tasks, this is my method and I too have a lot of tasks and information I am juggling around. I have spent the past years using this technique and it is robust enough when I fall behind, when I have a lot of stuff to do, but also lasts through long vacations 👍

@shawniscoolerthanyou2 жыл бұрын
Agreed. GTD is specifically not a list of vague things you want to read or vague categories like "work".
