To be fair, they only started to run good fairly recently. On release, and up til like 5 years ago, they ran like trash, unless you heavily modded them. Call of Pripyat only ran decently for me after the 2023 patch they did for it.

@@DeltaFidelias the 2023 update was only for 12th gen intel cpu's. Alot of old games can have issues on new hardware. BUt their is no "to be fair" they have already made 3 stalkers games you would think they would be able to maybe optimize they're 4th game or you know, maybe avoid using the unreal traversal stutter engine which I have a feeling they will not update as the engine actually becomes less of a problem. People are getting cpu limited on the best hardware you can buy so that only means they obviously knew the game was unoptimized before releasing it, they knew it was unoptimized before taking peoples money from pre orders. They should of given the game another year, maybe at least by then they could of worked on the buggy features which I don't even know why their buggy because they are the same features they had from 2009, they could of worked on optimizing the game, unreal engine would probably be in a better state maybe less traversal stutters, And by then the 50 series would be out meaning people on a 30 series could maybe snag a 40 series for much cheaper before the game is out. its a win for everyone. but its 2024 soon 2025 and we need to get used to paying full price for unoptimized games that are better to play a year after release maybe longer, Hogwarts still has memory leaks and stutter problems to this day and they have a new game coming out.

3:24 - The faces have improved from the prior games, but it like going from Half Life quality to Half Life 2 quality. Agreed about the conversation framing, it's a bit passe. There are certainly better cinematic options available.

I bought all the half life games in a bundle including blue shift ect and I’m almost done with HL1, honestly I expected it to be a twitchy shooter but it’s surprisingly fun and slower paced, excited for the 2nd one, unfortunately father Gregory was already spoiled for me

Dont like that enemy randomly spawning in mechanic reminds me too much of Clear Sky clown car spawners and endgame run nonsense of needing to push past certain points to disable them.

This time next year this game will be absolutely perfect, I seriously hope they don't give up it, this game is pretty good despite the bugs and glitches, heck Cyberpunk 2077 was worse (way worse) and I love that game

I hate the fact that games noawadays almost enitrely rely on fake frame generation to be at least playable, this is not optimization this is just lazy !

Its the only reason why modern games can even look as good as they do on current hardware. It’s tech designed by nvidia and amd for that purpose. Cp2077 can play at over 120 fps with ai fram gen on my 4070 ti s when without it same settings would be like 30 fps on a 3080.

To be fair, Stalker Call of Prypiat didn't allow to kill crucial NPCs by simple trick - you couldn't use weapons in zones with those crucial NPCs like Boroda, Kardan, Azot and others. And the only time Azot is out of "town", he's in a cutscene. And everyone else is either non-crucial or talks with you via the radio. Dunno if I was lucky, but I didn't experience as many bad glitches during gameplay - yeah there were couple of oddities like stalkers going through closed shelter doors or UI disappearing until reload, but it's been mostly smooth for me. Performance-wise I'm on i5-12600K and RTX3080 so maybe my case is a bit better than most but on mostly epic settings, 1440p with DLSS game was mostly hitting mark described by devs as "High settings". There are performance hitches but most of the tima it managed to hit mark around 60 FPS (going between 45 and 75 depending on scene as I was testing with MSI Afterburner but was holding closer to higher values). Doing slight system tuning (CPU OC'd to 4,7GHz on all P-cores via BIOS settings, videocard OC'd via MSI Afterburner autotuner, nothing spectacular or fine) definitely helps. Other than that - it seems to be heavy case-on-case situation, I was luckier than many to hit desired framerate most of the time. Same with bugs - so far my gameplay was more stable and less buggy than, let's say, Final Fantasy XVI or Starfield (LOL)

I played this shish for 5 hours today and went through 5 stages of grief. Got so sad that the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series might never be the same. It's still decent, and the atmosphere is there. But it's different and not as dark and gritty as SoCh and CS used to be. As someone who grew up in a post-soviet country before moving to US, I'd say playing older stalker games was a really weird experience. I'm a zoomer, but when I played Clear sky I really felt like a part of me belonged to 80's. With Stalker 2 I don't get that feeling anymore. But now I realize that things have changed and I gotta move on.

Looked at a brick wall for 10 mins, also looked at a puddle for the same length and enjoyed the real time reflections from fellow stalkers walking by. 10/10 game. We back in the zone! On a realistic side though Im having the same problems as you. The frame gen is crippling the gameplay right now. Hoping for patches to roll out fast but I can wait.

Game runs great with frame gen i get 80-130 fps on medium settings i have a ryzen 7 5700x and rtx 3080ti though frams can drop in cut sceens its like in some cut sceens fram gen truns of but comes right back afterwards

3060ti, 80-100 fps on mid settings, 3440x1440 with dlss. It's more than playable when it's this way, however, multiple times for whatever reason game had just capped at 8-10 fps for minutes randomly. Either had to reload or suffer through these parts. Sometimes it's less severe and the game caps at like around 40 fps. Since the raw, usual perfomance seems to be in high 80s for me, the behavior i've descibed has to be some sort of a bug and not the issue of rendering pipeline itself, therefore, with patches it should be resolved completely honestly, had more problems with "veteran" difficulty, where bloodsuckers kill you in 2 hits, while you need like at the very least 2 mags for them. Maybe would be easier with later with a better loot, but so far, every bloodsucker encounter plays out like some dark souls bossfight for me. Literally have to dodge them by the sound clues to preserve stamina

Bro get a 7900 xtx and a ryzen 7800x3d, on 1440p i get 100 frames easy with fsr. With 1080 it would be way higher. And thats on an ultrawide, on a regular res it would be higher frames.

Worst Stalker I ever played and I have thousands of hours in the originals, modded included. The first 3 hours are fun, at mark 5 it gets a bit slow and at mark 10 its just dull, basic and uninteresting. Bad loot, bad AI (human and mutant), bad economy, boring side missions, really confusing story line thats hard to get invested in, uninteresting characters...the only good stuff are the graphics and cinematic cutscenes. They are top notch. The rest, you know, the important stuff, is 3/10 at best. 15 years for this. You know whats bad about a game like this? If I'm inside a dark and creepy tunnel and I think about my grocery shopping list for tomorrow.

I have every setting on epic and scaling on TAA, it runs epic 😁😁 on my PC. Components are CPU 11700k water cooled, GPU 4090, Ram 32gig, currently one of the best SSD, but I'm still using a 2K monitor with HDR. Feels like I should be using a 4k monitor as the PC has a lot more performance left in it.

@eccodreams Not sure what your system specs are but out of curiosity, do you have an Xbox controller connected to your PC? There is a bug that's been around for a while with the Xbox controller and Windows that regularly causes a major memory leak causing bad performance and errors.

@eccodreams If when you are in the market to upgrade, look into building your own PC, IMO laptops are very limited when it comes to gaming. AMD have some good offerings of bang for buck components for PC builds. 👍
