Sliding to the right from the Lock Screen while the phone is still locked does open the camera, so you should go ahead and change the bottom right toggle to something else (mine’s set to document scanner).

As a non-professional I can’t justify paying for Lightroom. I just wish the Apple photos app had more editing control through an ‘advanced’ mode. I’m also losing my mind with the brightness bug when I add any markups to a photo (the entire image gets darker if you add a markup). I’m also just OCD enough to Hate that I can’t manually type the values I want for Tone and Color when editing a photographic style. On top of that, I wish I could save multiple photographic styles that I could easily toggle between rather than needing to adjust each photo with that stupid square interface in post.

Have you tried the Lightroom mobile plan? It’s probably different per country but for me it costs something ridiculous like €1.99 per month and includes 40 gigabytes of lightroom’s cloud storage.

I’m a big fan of VN video editor - I actually prefer it over Final Cut Pro for iPad. Kino is a fantastic video camera app with the ability to bake in LUTs and leave the grunt work to the app. Finally, I’m looking forward to photographic styles on the iPhone 16 PM.

I almost min max my layout for battery. Force push, locations, notifications, only on necessary apps. I only use widgets that don’t keep refreshing and searching for changes. For example, widgets like weather, photos, device battery%, etc all drain battery constantly when they keep updating or searching for changes. I use mostly premade shortcut stacks for my widgets. Shortcuts don’t continuously use cpu. Helps with battery and heat. I also use straight dark mode for battery. I get so much battery on my 16 pro it’s great. I also turn always on display off.

I used Overcast since it launched but I don’t like the redesign. I switched to Castro and I really like it. The way it handles the queue is SO much better. The new developers seem to have some momentum with it so hopefully that continues.

Since that will always be there, I could justify replacing the bottom toggle with something else. I've got Halide on the Camera Control, Blackmagic Cam on the bottom right toggle.

I’m back on Apple Podcasts. Overcast bugs out to download but the bigger thing is sometimes holding my phone I jump forward in the podcast and can’t find where I was. Apple Podcasts has transcripts which helps me find where I was!

For Podcasts I just use the Apple app. I use Spotify for music (I tried Apple Music app and I hate it) and it does have podcasts but I prefer to keep my music and podcasts separate

same overcast user here. the redesign is ok, but the basic function is very broken. so i switched to ios's default podcast app. i found it's now much better, they also support chapters now.

I was a big overcast user, switched to pocket casts following the most recent major update. I had an issue with skipping in pocket casts, but if I download the episodes, that doesn’t happen. I hope overcast is fixed soon!

Apple Podcasts works for me. I do miss the silence trimming thought. Question about Heavy and MacroFactor. I use Strong and Foodnoms. Have you used those? If so what did you not like about them that pushed you to the other apps?

Since you mentioned using prores proxy: Testing Blackmagic cam with prores proxy vs h265 the proxy is seemingly captured at a much lower resolution than 4k (just wrapped in 4k) so it is a pretty bad idea to use it. It becomes blocky if you try to zoom in. h265 is the only alternative with lower file sizes without going prores LT.

Are you sure? I’ve used it for a few projects and don’t see a lower resolution. I’ve had H2 65 completely fall apart in the grade so I’m not touching it for log footage anymore

@@stalman It seems hard to recreate in every shot so I am not sure no. I guess what I see is the proxy is also falling apart, especially in darker areas when exposing for the bright sky. I wish we had a good H265 option... Hopefully Blackmagic will update this soon.

I got Kino for your lut but man the 5x zoom is pretty bad on this app. Moment and Blackmagic have great stabilization but for some reason it’s non existent on Kino when using the 5x zoom
