I was wondering when I looked at the thumbnail, but this video uses a solid state amp with a line out! Try connecting a tube amp to an audio interface, if you want a real challenge.
@StamatisStabos2 ай бұрын
@@srinip that's why people use modern amps and vst's, tube amps sound good for live performance but in recording is pain in the ass and plus every tube amp sound different because the analog signal is not accurate like digital
@srinip2 ай бұрын
@@StamatisStabos Your points are well taken, but your conclusions may not be acceptable to a lot of guitar players. Modeling amps and VSTs only go so far. Even Fractal's models (which I use from time to time) don't really compare with a real tube amp (my first hand experience), and actually work better live because of the very predictability you are touting - plus they're easy to haul around. You are correct in that tube amps do sound somewhat inconsistent, but guitars themselves are inconsistent anyway. It is the inconsistency that endears tube amps to it's users. Yes, it's true that you have to put the time in to understand tube amps and find their sweet spots, but anybody who has successfully done it will tell you there is no substitute. The reason we love older recordings is certainly not because they were more "accurate", but because they're more organic. That's why most modern music can very easily be generated by AI, and most kids won't know the difference.
@StamatisStabos2 ай бұрын
@srinip yes true but not only with amps, in general all the recording process was different from Elvis live band recording with one mic in the studio to multichannel consoles, we must keep the advantages of the technology and good things from the past and evolve, some nerds saying that the vinyl and the wax Edison cylinder sounds better from CD and FLAC files and all that while arguing and listening on digital devices
@srinip2 ай бұрын
@@StamatisStabos I can't argue with that, except to say that your assessment of tube amps is basically wrong. I'm not going to get into the "accuracy" argument - music is not about accuracy, but about the emotion it creates. I have yet to listen to a decent modeler than can create the emotional response of a good tube amp (for my taste, a good single-ended tube amp, but that's a whole nuther discussion!). One reason your Elvis example actually illustrates the deficiencies of present techniques is the preponderance of recording one track at a time - full disclosure, I do it myself, but I'm aware that it's only for convenience. The reason an album like Aja holds up even today is because the guys actually played TOGETHER live while tracking. They didn't pull loops from a library, or cut and paste verses and choruses - they actually PLAYED! To your point about keeping the good and evolving, yes, I completely agree. But discarding tube amps in studios is actually throwing away the good. True, if I REALLY wanted a Dumble tone, I'd have to use Fractal's models because I can't afford a Dumble clone, let alone a real Dumble. But the beauty of tube amps is that once you've found your voice, you can then learn to use it and play music, rather than diddle around with technology that most users don't understand anyway.

@@StamatisStabos if you use Ableton live you can set a count in and you can get into a position where you won't get that. Granted that you were showing others how to set up but that would do my head in.

why use instrument if it is not directly from instrument , maybe you should try the line input instead of instrument input in audio interface,
@Fonkemman9 ай бұрын
Your interface inputs should be in LINE mode, not INST.

just put a microphone in front of the guitar cab and record it with your interface!

That's obviously the best, but if you live somewhere you can't make noise then something like this is the next best option (with quality headphones). You can record your own practice sessions this way. However I wouldn't record an album this way of course. Also you should make sure your amp is a solid state (not tube) and has a amp cab simulator built in, or you'll need to download one on your PC to make it sound better. Something like this with an Orange Super Crush 100 properly dialed in would be epic. It sounds exactly like a tube amp, but is 100% solid state. Plus it's a rig you could use at home with headphones (+ record with), at band practice, for real recording sessions and mostly importantly for live shows. The options are endless with this kinda rig.

is this even a serious video??? Why would you even need a stereo in from your amp to the PC DAC? This is a false info. You need to use MONO (1 ch) and then create as many corresponding tracks in your DAW...
@StamatisStabos Жыл бұрын
Because this digital amp have stereo effects and some analog pedals have stereo connection left and right
