What a beautiful finish to the surface. I have often wondered how they made the concrete surface pattern and now I know. Something new I have learnt today. Many Thanks.

You guys do good work , I live in CT. And do this kind of work. I didn't see you spread ( powder ) release..how do you keep the stamp pads from sticking ? Let me know, by the way I'm going into business for myself in the spring.Its hard work , but I love it. Keep up the good work.
@trentenslack63735 жыл бұрын
They used a liquid release agent. The colored powder release is to provide a different color in the deeper parts of the stamp. Grout lines.... deeper viens in the pattern.. ect.

My buddy and I did a patio with this shape a few weeks ago, but with just a sweat finish instead of the stamped finish. It was a bit larger at 20'x20' at the arc apex though. You would need at least one person who knows what they are doing to help, or a person you can teach as you go if you know what to do, but two people can do a pad that size without any trouble. More help is always good insurance though if you can find more volunteers. Do it while it's cool in the morning, and you shouldn't have to chase it. Last year three of us did a 30'x40' pad with a stamped slate texture similar to this one, but without the faux grout lines. Barely even broke a sweat on it. Also, I think it's always key to make sure your base gravel is compacted well. At least a plate compactor, if not a jumping jack, then a plate compactor. Then you shouldn't have any issues with cracks for a long time. Cut expansion joints about every ten feet (the diamond wheel cutter machine @3:50), and it should be good. You can rent all of the tools necessary for the job. Some rental places even do half days to help you save more money.

+CmdrGendoIkari See that's how this media should work. Good advice from somebody that knows. That helps me tons, and thank you!
@CmdrGendoIkari8 жыл бұрын
Dave Mercado If you happen to live in SE Idaho we could stop by, and do a cost estimate for you. Most of the cost with a pad like this one in the video is the concrete itself at ~$100 per cubic yard. This slab appears to be about 16'x20'x6" thick if I'm not being fooled by the perspective, which is around 6 yards. Our mix plants around here will charge a $100 delivery fee unless it's at least 5 yards. May be different with the prices where you are. I can offer further guidance if you do chose to DIY.

Hard to tell from the video, but it looked like the steel reinforcing mesh was resting at or near the *bottom* of the cement pour -- not in the *center* of it. Again, hard to tell ...
@kevinosman91326 жыл бұрын
Centre is better for a slab-on-ground but near the bottom works too as long as the rebar mat is chaired not resting on the ground to allow the concrete to encase the rebar and reinforce the concrete to reduce curling and shrinkage/cracking. The slab is not that thick. I would have cured the concrete as the most important step of quality

Between $10 to $15 per square foot. Yes, it is labor intensive, and yes, those products that get it to look like that cost a bunch!!!! I’ve done hundreds of these. This guy had a lot more employees than he needed. Teeny patio like that? 2 people, 3 tops! And they used a concrete cart, no less!! LOL. Nice job, though.

H C no more like $2600-3800 depending on patterns, the number of colors and coats of sealant. This looks like 5yds worth or concrete. The Concrete alone is $650-$800, color materials $300-$600. The rest is labor. It's very time consuming!
