Look how young Stan "The Man" Lee in that year, 1966 because when I see a new video of him. I still remembering him when I thought I really lost him but now, I saw a Stan "The Man" Lee video on KZbin, I clicked it very quickly. 👏❤️❤️♥️♥️👍👍😭

Stan was in his early to mid 40s when he did this. The 50s were hard on him and the industry, and he was thinking of quitting in very early 60s. But a chance to write a superhero book and some inspiring advice from his lovely wife restored his youthful demeanor.

How far did you skip ahead? His first words are literally "Hi. I'm Stan Lee." 😂

No mystery involved. It's just Stan Lee before he grew his signature mustache, and before he started wearing a toupee, which he did throughout the seventies. Eventually, he got hair plugs, and was able to ditch the rug, but it left him with the very distinctive assymetrical hairline he had in his later years.
@JohnSmith-gu3ub

@@JohnSmith-gu3ub Okay...but why would you feel the need to skip ahead through a video that's a minute and 20 seconds long? You didn't even have the patience to see what happens literally 2 seconds into the video. I'm starting to see why some things are taken out of context or why people miss so much these days.

Stan Lee was killed in 1967. He was replaced by Marvel with an imposter, coincidentally named Stanley Lieber. This is the real reason he stopped writing Marvels, not because "Jack Kirby really wrote them," as Jack Kirby claimed. If you listen to the Merry Marvel Marching Society song backwards, Steve Ditko can be heard whispering, "Give me back my art, dead man," proving he knew Lee had been killed in a traffic accident.

The statistics he's citing are a bit off, not very surprisingly for a pitch for both the comics business and Marvel's role in it. Marvel's unit sales didn't triple over any three-year period in the 1960s, but they had nearly doubled and absolutely were growing. Marvel was by no means #1 yet, though: that'd happen around 1973. In the 1960s, DC had MANY more series; Marvel wasn't contractually allowed to expand its line. (DC's owner also owned Marvel's distributor!) Comics were definitely not "bigger than ever" as a business in the 1960s - overall circulations were falling - but you're not going to hear that in a pitch like this. And comics' cultural footprint was certainly growing, with fandom on the rise and the aftermarket developing.

Kirby was adding African American characters of substance in the 60s and 70s. Stan lee wrote about the dangers of drugs in Spiderman in the 60s and 70s the entire metaphor of X-Men is racism. the metaphor of the hulk is mental illness and the fantastic four is about honoring family. Spiderman is about the underdog. nearly every marvel character you can name has a PC or "woke" meaning. do I need to post the Stan's soapbox where he says this in print about marvel comics? I don't know what comics you were reading as a kid but perhaps you should reread them. I think you missed the point of every single one of them.

@@grendelpaul Creating black characters doesn't make you woke. Making a big deal out of the fact that they are black and portraying them as victims of racism on the other hand, is woke. So is racebending former white character into non-white characters to please the SJWs. Dedicating a few issues to the danger of drugs doesn't make a title woke. Which happened in the early 70s, not the 60s when the Comics Code still had something to say. X-Men was never meant as a dull metaphor for racism. It was created partly because Stan Lee wanted to try something new. Heroes being feared instead of worshipped. And humans were afraid of them for a good reason. Evil mutants like Magneto saw themselves as a master race and felt they should rule the world and humanity. Charles Xavier on the other hand wanted humans and mutants to live together in peace. And Stan Lee was tired of coming up with an origin story for each superhero, so by making them mutants he didn't have to think about how they got their powers. Also, mutants makes a horrible metaphor for racism because if you are born black or white, you will still be black or white even if you are a mutant. The Inhumans would work much better considering they are actually an independent branch of humanity. But as the series progressed this original idea was mostly left behind, and when Byrne and Claremont had their run, we had a "what if"-story about a future where fear of mutants had detroyed the world. Then Byrne left the comic, and gradually X-Men degenerated into what it is today. Have you read the Byrne and Claremont issue when Kitty, before she learns she is a mutant herself, meets Ororo for the first time and is told they are the X-Men? Kitty has stars in her eyes and wants Ororo's autograph because X-Men is a team of heroes "just like the Avengers". Neither was Hulk meant to be about mental illness. That was an idea added by Peter David, inspired by The Incredible Hulk #312 in 1985, written by Bill Mantlo (which in turn was accused of stealing the idea from a story Barry Windsor-Smith was working on). Please mention just one Hulk issue released before Peter David included it that is about mental health. Fantastic Four was created as a comic about family values? That's not what I have heard. They were created because Lee and Kirby wanted a team made of characters of flesh and blood, with real life problems and issues. And traditional family values goes against the woke ideology. The same with Spider-Man, which faced typical teenage problems. It is either way not "woke" to write about a less popular guy with superpowers. Lee published thousands of Stan's soapbox, but apparently he will only be remembered for one of them. When some of the readers brought up racism, of course he would take a stand against it. Should he have done the opposite? I know what comics and issues I loved when growing up, and I know what I hate about comics today.
